I have a 2 day install in Gonzales near the High School. Any place to grab a late dinner? Don't care if gas station, or mom and pop. Any decent boudin or jambalaya in the area for a quick lunch ? Thanks in advance.

Rende's Lebanese for lunch, make sure you get the chicken.

I second Rende’s, especially with the spicy sauce and the garlic paste.

Some of my other favorites around town:
Bergeron’s
Lit Pizza
Marlin’s Pizza
Country Kitchen Buffet (lunch only)
Lamendola’s (plate lunches)
El Mescal
Raul’s
South of Philly
Duck Roost Cafe
Kamahl’s Kafe
Leader’s Fried Chicken

As for a little more upscale dining:
Kevin’s
Sno’s
Ichiban

Assuming you get two lunches and two dinners, and you don’t want to make the drive out to the Diversion Canal for Kevin’s:

Lunch 1: Country Kitchen
Dinner 1: Sno’s
Lunch 2: Rende’s
Dinner 2: El Mescal

Make your way to John Michael's Good Eats. Across the street, but very close to Dutchtown High. Get the shrimp remoulade wrap with the mint tea to drink. Yum!

I forgot about Mike's Poboys right by the high school...killer egg rolls and huge poboys if that's your thing.

Probably means East Ascension in Gonzales.

John Michaels is a good spot.

John Michaels is in Dutchtown by the interstate.

Mike’s is across the street from EA by the courthouse.

Country Kitchen is not good. Even by G-Town standards. First, it’s a buffet. They have the exact same things on the buffet every day and rotate 1 entree item. It’s just not good.

Sno’s, Kamal’s, Mike Anderson’s. Choices in G-Town are limited.

Can’t think of any restaurants selling boudin but Shell station at the corner of Airline and Pupera sells hot LeBlanc’s boudin.

I would hit up Leaders and Mikes poboys for your lunches.

Bergeron’s is your best bet for boudin. It’s the same bergeron’s as the one in Port Allen. Triple S makes boudin as well, but it’s pretty meh.

As for Jambalaya, I find the Jambalaya Shoppe on the corner of Burnside and Airline to be vastly superior to all other locations. Lamendola’s also has great Jambalaya daily. If it’s a Saturday, Murray’s in St. Amant typically has excellent Jambalaya.

Yeah, that JS probably has the best jambalaya I've bought around there. I hear they're moving to the old Ikura location, the one that used to be a Pizza Hut I think.

I've been to Country Kitchen a few times and don't care for it. A bunch of unseasoned crap out of a can, and the catfish was tough as shoe leather

Country Kitchen used to be damn good. I really miss Aunt Sue's. The best gumbo and meat pies.

Yep. That’s right. Management change 10 or 12 years ago did them in.
