Depends on you expectation level. There are worse places to go. I think they have Cane Break on draft, so they have that going for them

I like it. Oysters are good, as is the whole flounder and shrimp/crabmeat Bienville. Everything I've had there has been solid.

A World Champion Oyster Shucker.

LINK

Grew up with Duke and his brother Mike and their Dad owned Don’s Seafood in BR and his uncles owned Beaumont and Lafayette branches. I’ve been to the one in Watson and it’s good old south Louisiana seafood.

Never had a bad meal there

Broiled shrimp is legit

Dons/Dukes

I know they a family member left Dons and started Dukes but it’s the same damn food as far as I can tell. I have been to both and I absolutely hate their fried food. I don’t understand how they mess up the easiest thing to cook at a seafood restaurant. Even when the food appears to have been cooked correctly I don’t like their batter/bread crumb coating.

The broiled flounder has been the only thing I have had there that is good.

"Duke'd Up" oysters were good. I usually get the seafood bienville dish and it is rich, but tasty. We did takeout gumbo for Mothers Day, and it had a ton of seafood in it. I dont like the way they fry fish -- the batter/breading isnt my preference. It is a little high for what you get, but solid.

How do you not know what to expect from a traditional S.La. seafood place?

Also, Monday is 1/2 price oysters -- raw, charbroiled, Duke'd Up. Great place to go especially once Monday Night Football starts up

Same quality of seafood found in EBR @ Ralph and Kacoos, Mike Andersons ect…. Just a lot less chance of drive by shootings or armed robbery since you are in the LP.
