Although, I get the notion that their style of service is not for everyone and if you don't like it, there's plenty other comparable or better restaurants and there's no need to go back.
But, in fairness to them, they're trying to hold themselves out as being in the style of a Parisian/Alsatian Brasserie, which are restaurants that are pretty much universally known for a certain brusqueness in their service. This is pretty much what I've observed service-wise in dining there.
If you understand that going in, I don't think you would have as much of a problem with what they do there - I never have.
However, I get it, if that's not your thing. Also, I'm willing to acknowledge, bad is bad, no matter what your schtick (and yeah, some of what you describe seems just bad).

First off, my boyfriend is british and is very familiar with the service in France and Europe, as am I. This was not the normal, snobby french service. It's not normal in France to have your table not cleaned. It's not normal in France to have a dirty towel laid down in front of you to eat on. And I can definitely assure you that in France, I'd never be served wine in a water glass.

Wait, shitty service is hip now? Screw that.

Although, a lot of the other criticisms I've seen here of their service, would in my view fall under the purview of their brusqueness and not being the personable "Hi, my name is Todd, and I'll be taking care of you this evening" variety.

I finally literally hollered at the bitch working and
Wow that does sound bad. I just can't see giving a place 7-10 chances, 3 at tops.

I get that they have their niche' and thats why i went.... but man 20min for a drink that has what 15 maybe 20 people possible sitting at that bar, is just insane. I also understand that their food isnt going to come out quickly, not with the food they offer. But, fill my damn water and at least look at my table when you walk by to see if something isn't right. The waitress got a tip off of the food and thats it. I mean I did spend about $130 or so in there, i expect not to be eating ice. I'm going back for the simple fact that i loved the food i got and i'm willing to give places at least a couple chances, but frick me if i'm waiting that long for a drink again

If it was me saying the same exact words, Glassman would tell me I'm too picky.
Since it's a woman he likes, he'll compliment her.
If you want, though, I can give you an e-mail address for someone in the Besh organization.

Can't argue that! Basically, I was just noticing that you weren't pulling any punches - which is unusual on this board. Whenever I do this, he's always super-quick to tell me I'm too picky.

Not in this instance Brock. Sounds pretty terrible.

was about to ask about the oyster special since it obviously won your repeat visits,
Luke's oyster special is the tits. I've never actually eaten a sit-down meal there, but I love hanging out at the oyster bar for half price beers and cheap oysters. It's from 3-6 pm I think.

Yes, the service was terrible, but now you've made me smile. ;)
