Well, they oyster towel was pretty nasty if that was the case and notification of some higher ups is warranted. I hope that happens. I like the place as well and it's disappointing to see something like this.

Bump

Well someone got a message it seems. We went to Luke Saturday afternoon and sat at the bar. While we have had iffy service at tables occasionally, the bar is usually pretty solid for us. Saturday it was over the top conscientious. Greeted immediately. Drinks were set in front of us not long after. Waitstaff making sure bartenders noticed customers seated down at the end by the shuckers. No waiting for a check or to pay the check. It was a noticeable difference in attitude from what I've seen in the past.

Nice to hear. I suspect someone dropped the ball and didn't know what was going on. The word got to the right person.

Hopefully, the fix you saw is permanent.

I ate there for my first time 2 Sundays ago and the service was great. I almost didn't go because of this thread, but the opinions of those "defending" the restaurant won out. We had a great meal!

We went last week and it was noticiably better service all the way around. I ordered a drink ahead of time and it came within minutes of ordering, so then I had two drinks at my table.

I think Luke's must have gotten the message about their past service issues and they got them fixed.

If they fired some folks as a result of this, that would certainly shake up the rest of them if they need to keep their jobs.

Tiger Dropping's power seems to extend well past LSU & SEC sports. I don't doubt that this thread and similar comments hastened the decision to replace these workers. Obviously a change was needed. Company owners want to succeed and when bad press spreads, it spreads so much faster than good press.

If you were to google Luke New Orleans this thread was in a top results. So it probably did get seen. The FDB board has more lurkers than posters.

There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that things that are posted on here usually gets back to management...and that's a good thing. Glad to hear that they are making some changes.

I would blast a place on here as well. The only place I am always critical of is Burgersmith, because that is literally the only bad meal I have had in the last four months. I have been on a roll after using the place to look for food choices.

Niki, the GM really hoped you would contact him so he can apologize and he wants to ask you to come back, so he can do so, personally. Those were his words. I sent the thread to the Besh group general email address last week and got a reply within minutes from the Luke GM who was so grateful for the alert regarding what he called a "deplorable service episode". It appears that some changes have been made thanks to you. Hope you'll consider contacting him to talk about it. He seemed very sincere and concerned. I think that's worth something. I thought you were going to contact him, so I didn't mention this last week.

That is really good to hear. I've had the service several times that Y.A. has referred to. Actually had the same server several times and although I have enjoyed my visits, service was something I would have never described as efficient or good there. I'd have to say in the Besh group it has been the weakest in terms of service, and like Y.A. said, I just thought it was their M.O.

I'll be back next week for happy hour between trips to August and Commander's.

Hopefully have good news to report back.

this is good to hear. i always suggest the place to folks looking for a decent lunch in the area (along with butcher), but never had great service in the place.

i actually have avoided it a couple times of recent.....but will go back for another try, off this response alone.

Gris Gris...Thanks so much. Glad to see that they were receptive. Is there a particular email address I should use to get him directly?

bkatz at chefjohnbesh dot com.

You could also try and call him in case your email goes to junkmail by accident. The one I sent went to the address of info at chefjohnbesh dot com, I believe.

I would assume he would have liked to try and ID the staff etc...

I discouraged him from addressing it on the board. Sometimes that hasn't worked out so well.
Let me know how it turns out.

The GM was obviously very bothered by nikinik's experience. I couldn't believe I got the response I got in such a short period of time. The email was obviously forwarded to him, pronto. He emailed me several times wanting to get in touch with her. I didn't have her contact info and I wouldn't have given it without her permission, anyway, but I was very impressed by the timing and the substance of his emails.
