Confusion warranted. Divorce should be final any day now.

Hopefully this isn't too personal, but is the bbq business staying the same?

I agree with the OP. Food is always good to great and you can't beat their oysters during happy hour, but their service can be downright terrible. I always order a beer ahead as by the time they bring out the beer I've ordered I've had the time to drink the beer they gave me, which is usually 15 to 25 minutes later.

I'm really sorry to hear about the service issues. I'm not a regular, but I've never had a problem that I can think of.

I always thought people were crazy to say the service at Luke was terrible until I experienced it myself. I've eaten there many times and have always enjoyed it. I went a few weeks ago and we almost felt like we were a bother to be there. I wanted to slap the snooty little hostess across the face.

What's going on at Luke? Please John Besh fix this.

I've said it from day one.

Luke is far and away the most overrated restaurant in New Orleans.

It is a businessman and tourist trap.

People see the John Besh name and they think it's going to be great. Instead, they pay through the tooth for food that is worse than what Chili's puts out on the average.

It wouldn't survive for a month in Fat City.

Yep. I eat lunch there with colleagues about once a week and never have any problems.

Yes, that was the ever popular "Dear John Besh" letter you wrote here which didn't amount to much, as I recall.

Here's the link to your thread.

Thanks, Wink. I don't need it, but I wish the people complaining would use it. I suspect they would get a prompt response and that the Besh folks would want to know of the issues.

I love Luke, tourist/businessman trap or not. I enjoy the food and am willing to pay the prices like so many others.

However, if I had nikinik's experiences, I would let the restaurant know and then gauge my decision on going back by the way the matter is handled.

Yeah, I know you don't need it. Sorry, I was lazy and hit reply on the last post.

They obviously need better management. It sounds like it may especially be the night management.

Writing personal letters and emails can effect more change than posting on message boards and review sites. (I'm not saying there is anything wrong with posting on message boards to vent. Obviously, I'm cool with that but don't expect anything to change if you don't let them know personally.)

I agree with you on all, Wink. I don't always let someone know if I've had a bad situation, but this was too bad to allow it to go unreported. I'd write to them. Sometimes, a restaurant isn't worth the return visit overall for lots of reasons and, in those cases, I just leave it alone. Everyone pretty much agrees on the quality of the food at Luke, though.
