Anybody else have a bad experience with this...i bought one online for a friend...a week later it still hasn't arrived in the mail....

That story is right in line with Don's quality. Go for something a little better and get your friend a McDonald's gift card to replace it.

He wanted to buy a gallon of seafood gumbo....don has really good seafood gumbo and they discount it every year at christmas...he doesnt eat at the resturant...

Bingo. Your friend is smart.
People can hate on Don’s all they want for the quality of their entrees, and I won’t argue. But their seafood gumbo is up there with the best of restaurants.
It’s actually amazing and frustrating that they can make that dish so awesome, yet be average to below average with everything else.

I don’t know about Don’s in BR, but the gumbo and crawfish bisque at the Lafayette downtown location are great.

Isn't this he location in Lafayette the original Dons? I find there food better than the other locations I've tried.

The seafood gumbo is very good, and I enjoy the bar at the Don’s Hut in Lafayette. Good for an old fashion and some chargrilled oysters.
