Lots of good dishes and approaches. But should always get the soufflé potatoes and fried eggplant.

You could craft a pretty solid seafood only meal if you wanted. Shrimp remoulade, oysters en brochette, crabmeat Maison, oysters Rockefeller, fish, softshell, etc...

You could also get the lamb chops which I think are the best in the city.

Or you could order a really nice bottle of grower champagne and order a platter of fried chicken.

All of this. Add the big seafood appetizer.

Their Oysters Rockefeller are superb; Godchaux Salad; Crabmeat Ravigote; Black Drum; and don’t be too recherche to order onion rings for the table - wonderful. For my wife and I, we always found our way to Galatoires at least once per trip to New Orleans. Wear a jacket and tie to be seated downstairs. I don’t particularly like their upstairs experience. Also, trust the wait staff; they’ve been their for decades.

As already mentioned, I usually order the Pompano when available, and I like the sweetbreads. My wife likes the lamb

It’s not on the menu but tell them you want soft shell crabs with lump crabmeat on top. You’ll jizz your pants.

Yep. And also agree on the fried chicken idea.

Souffle potatoes, oysters rock, fish of the day amandine with crabmeat if you like OR if they have the soft shell crab, it's great. I'd get that amandine, as well. Caramel custard for dessert. Nap.

start with the Grand Gouté appetizer. Go with any of the above recommendations. Cafe Brulot with dessert to finish.

A friend of mine orders that frequently as well and really enjoys it. The last two times I was there I got the crabmeat au gratin and it was full of lovely large lumps of crab and very tasty. I don't often go off the beaten path, but it was worth it. I didn't skip the oysters rock or the souffle potatoes. I missed the shrimp remoulade and fried eggplant, but I already had too much food.

Fried chicken dipped in bernaise is superb as a table appetizer.
