Many bars in Huntsville and other cities have become non smoking. They listed to their customers complaints and made a change. That's the way I see things continuing.

The one that forces smoke on others is clearly the selfish one.

LULZ..... I don't smoke (cigars occasionally, mostly at home).

But you are supporting a law that prevents a person from opening a smoker friendly bar, because you don't like smoke. That is the very definition of selfish.

So I am mistaken in thinking I should be able to go somewhere in public?

First, you have every right to go wherever you want in "public." But, you are mistaken in thinking that restaurants are "public." They are not. They are private. If they were public, then you could not be kept out. But, restaurants can keep you out if they choose not to allow brown shoes inside and you happen to be in brown shoes.

You ARE mistaken in thinking you have a greater right to go inside a restaurant than the restaurant owner has to set the terms and conditions upon which you may enter.

I don't agree with the parts about opening cigar shops or hookah shops, but whatever.

As it should be, but not in NOLA if the smoking Nazis get their way.

Good, so we have precedent to not allow smoking in bars. Thanks.

And that's the way I should be.

I heard that the Bulldog BR was going non-smoking starting Jan. 1 but I haven't been by yet, anyone know?

If they in fact did go non-smoking, then there won't be a single place I frequent that allows smoking, and that's without a ban on smoking in bars in BR.

right

"Hey I know you are a smoking establishment, but I want to come inside. So I think you should be forced to cater to my beliefs even though to own this establishment"

clearly not selfish at all

Explain. Who forced you to go into the restaurant? Was it force or choice? I'm confused.

Because the restaurant owner, who has greater rights than you, has chosen to allow smoking (a legal act) in his private establishment. I don't see how you were forced to do anything.
