Not in a restaurant. Try again.

I support this one particular law. Deal with it.

But you are supporting a law that prevents a person from opening a smoker friendly bar, because you don't like smoke. That is the very definition of selfish.

not really selfish, considering the percentage of Americans who actually smoke, compared to those who don't.

I know that sounds good in your head, "derp derp, you're the one being selfish!!"... but that's a ridiculous statement considering what i just said above.

Good, so we have precedent to not allow smoking in bars. Thanks.

Absolutely! The precedent is the BUSINESS OWNER--not government--deciding the terms and conditions of business at his establishment.

I heard that the Bulldog BR was going non-smoking starting Jan. 1 but I haven't been by yet, anyone know?

Was there on Sat. I think there was still smoking going on.

Explain. Who forced you to go into the restaurant? Was it force or choice? I'm confused.

Because the restaurant owner, who has greater rights than you, has chosen to allow smoking (a legal act) in his private establishment. I don't see how you were forced to do anything.

It's amazing that some people still can't fathom the idea of private property. Perhaps it will take the government banning use of legally purchased items in their own homes for them to understand a very basic concept of individual liberty and choice.

right. "hey im gonna light up this cigarette and all you who dont like it can deal with it or GTFO."

That is a strawman. The issue is, you do not wish to be around smoke, therefore you feel it is proper to prevent it in all public places. That is clearly selfish.

The better approach is to declare places "Smoke Friendly" or non-smoking on a case by case basis and let each individual make the individual decision as to whether or not to enter. You know, treat everyone like they are adults.

Hell for simplicity sake, you could default to smoke free and an owner would have to opt for and advertise smoke friendly. that would work just fine, IMHO.

So when my schedule dictates that I can only take a smoking flight, and I have asthma (which I do btw), I just have to suck it up?

are the non smoking business owners trying to force the other business owner to be non smoking?

I doubt that would ever really be an issue but maybe have smoking areas on the plane?

I'm confident we could figure this out

this isn't hard

nope....because before the laws, every building, every airplane, every business allowed smoking.

im not generalizing here, but on the whole, smokers are the most selfish people on earth. every day you see people smoking in cars with a baby in the back seat. hell my parents used to do it every day when i was a kid. to them, having a smoke was more important than the health risks to their children. very, very selfish.

And how will that work? Airtight locks in section of the plane?

A good fart sticks up an airplane, what do you think cigs will do?

this is why it wouldn't be like the 50s again

we are more educated about the side effects of smoking

Not at all. Regardless of the percentage of smokers, support of govt. prohibition of smoking in 100% of bars because it inconveniences some (even a majority) is selfish. Let the people decide. The market will adjust to follow current tobacco use trends.

There does not need to be a law to determine everything.
