You guys are high.

You can get a pizza from the chains for $7, it was more expensive when I was a kid in the 90’s.

I like the Costco Detroit style pizzas too, but it ain’t better than Pizza Hut/Dominoes etc.

Man I wish we had one of those here. I've only had it a couple times and it was so freaking good.

All we have is Dominos, Papa John's, Pizza Hut, Little Caeser's.

I tried Dominos again recently after a several year hiatus because they were offering 50% off and it was still blah. Service was great, pizza was blah. I guess you get what you pay for.

We had one place in the mall here that made great pizza and it closed. Not sure why. It was always so good. One of those places where you order a slice and it's a huge pizza slice, not those little dinky slices if you're lucky enough to find a place that sells slices. Most don't.

As far as frozen pizzas go..... Tombstone is good but I haven't had it in a long time. Totinos used to make "the big one" or something like that but it's been a few years since I've seen it in the store so I'm assuming it's been discontinued. It tasted just like those regular .99 pizzas. I just wish they were a little larger.

Screamin Sicilian, quality wise is just as good to me. A tiny bit smaller but I can get for under $7 during my weekly grocery store trip and not have to either pay for delivery + tip or drive 2-3 miles out of my way to get it.

Home Run Inn is the best frozen I've had. A bit more expensive than Screamin (8-10) but still more convenient and honestly better tasting than the chains imo.

I actually like to buy the already made pizza crusts and just make my own pizza over ordering delivery or frozen. Simple, very cheap, and the kids love it too.

I see. Thanks. But looking at the pic, I suspect it's not better than chains. Where do you buy those?

My kids love Papa Johns. I despise it.

Family of 5 - A meal from the Prairieville Papa John's runs me $60 after tax, delivery fee, and driver tip. It also takes 90 minutes to deliver almost every time.

I'm looking at my last order for pricing:
Large Original Crust Pepperoni $19.70
Large Original Crust Cheese $16.30
Chocolate Chip Cookie Pizza $7.75
3 Extra Garlic sauce $3.20

Subtotal $46.95
Tax $4.20
Delivery Fee $4.59

Total $55.74
I usually throw in a $10 tip for the driver

Why are you paying this for a Papa John's pizza?

Pick it up yourself. You're paying for convenience, not pizza.

All those chains usually have a one large carryout deal for $8-10. Anything beyond that and you're going to get gouged.

If you only want 1 large carryout they can be reasonable. Anything beyond that is usually ridiculous.

You can get large 3 topping carryout pizzas from dominos for $7.99. You can buy one at that price or several.

That is pretty good. What's the regular menu price for a large 1 topping at Dominos?

Pretty sure it's $15+ at pizza hut and papa johns, which is absolutely insane.

That's how they get you, they bait people in with that $8 large carryout deal and then hit you with a $18 charge for the 2nd one because that's "regular menu price".

Edit: just looked it up. $15.38 for a large one topping at my closest domino's. So they do the same thing, they just currently have a solid carryout deal but who knows how long that lasts.

I don't know. On the rare occasions I buy dominos it's for the kids when they have friends over and I do the carryout deal.

The $7.99 carryout deal on multiple pizzas has been going on for at least 8 years.

If I'm spending $15 or more on a pizza, I'm going to a local shop, not a chain.

If you're willing to pay $15 just to get the pizza delivered, does it make sense to complain about a $60 meal?

I could not imagine paying $20 for a one topping papa johns pizza.

Hop in your car and drive to Costco, get a much larger freshly made pizza for $10 each. Don't even need a membership.

On Mondays and Tuesdays, you can get 2 large, one-topping pizzas at Diversion Pizza for $22. The amount of time you spent waiting for delivery you could drive over and eat in the restaurant or pick up and drive home. Either way it would probably be quicker than waiting for the Papa Johns to get delivered.

It has been this way for close to a decade. 3 topping carryout is 7.99

That was the last straw w Papa John's. If I'm picking up, it's Little Caesar's.
We've been grabbing the Motor City pizzas from Winn Dixie lately.

Papa John's is usually pretty decent about having specials and stuff too. I would never pay menu price for their pizza, or any of the chain pizzas.

There isn't a local place near you that provides a 16inch one topping for about $18?
