Meeting a client for lunch today at Fry Meats on Carrollton in Mid City....it's barbeque. What is the board's opinion of this place?

Rock solid regardless of any other BBQ places nearby.

It's good. Not too far from my office.

Parking is horrific especially if you go right at noon.

Like most decent BBQ in NOLA... it's somewhat expensive.

Last time I went was right after all the freezes and the city was under a boil water advisory. I figured they would just have bottled water. They did, which they gave away at no cost if you were eating there. They also bought cans of soft drink and if you wanted a soft drink, they were charging the regular soft drink price and also continuing to not charge for refills.

That impressed me.

It's good food, but beware. I've tried to go there 8-10 times in the past year and every time they were not selling 50-75% of their menu. Literally a chalkboard with a sign that says "we don't have pork, sausage, brisket" etc. Also the service is usually pretty bad.

I'm not making this up. One time I went with my parents, and asked for a table for 3. The hostess said "sure, we can get you a table. But we are low on workers so it'll take a really long time and we don't have any meat left."

This is not uncommon practice for BBQ places

BBQ is above average for Nola. The milkshakes are really good too

Blue Oak is better; The Joint certainly is not.

Frey has some really good sandwiches, sides and milkshakes too

Never seen that. I will take a lunch meeting there instead of BOB as we have more room to talk.

It's better than Blue Oak. Brisket was more moist and smokier in flavor.

It’s solid. Personally I think Blue Oak is better across the board but Frey has a more diverse menu and a fantastic chicken sandwich.

Brisket Chili appetizer is my favorite thing on the menu. With a side of plain macaroni and cheese, it's more than enough food for lunch.

Cue is good.

Service slow.

If you order the Mac be prepared to wait a while.

The grilled cabbage sounds good, tastes awful.

The hot sausage patty / burger patty cheeseburger is awesome. I think they call it a half and half.

Also, really great ribs, biscuits, and brisket chili.

Their sliced brisket left a little to be desired but that was a while ago.

The owners are good people.
