Fresh Market started doing ready-made meals, and some are a pretty good deal.

I got this in my inbox today regarding Valentine's Day and decided to go ahead and place an order. For what all you get, it really isn't too shabby of a deal. Wanted to share in case anyone was planning on doing a fairly easy night in for V-Day. We don't usually go out for it, so this is great.

While on there, I noticed they also have a Valentine's brunch kit that feeds 4 people at the same price. There's also some "game day" meal deals for $39.99 that are a pretty good deal.

The food isn't anything wildly creative, but you'd probably spend at least $40 making all of it on your own. Pretty tempting for an easy Super Bowl at home.

Never buying from there again. Saw a fluorescent light in the display case that had the housing open. It was nasty as shite and had pooled water from condensation dripping on the meat and no one either noticed or cared. Left that moment and I’ve never gone back.

Oh boy. If you’re gonna let that stop you, then you should probably never go to any grocery store or restaurant ever again in your life.

If the food is good, that's a real deal. It's a lot of food.

The food plus the flowers, chocolate etc? That's a hell of a deal.

All I’m saying is there’s worse that you can find on any store or restaurant around.

I’ve never had any issues there. So fine with me.

When are you going to stop shopping everywhere else? Or do you need to see it firsthand?

This is a big issue and a big food safety problem. Other comments are correct, it happens at most groceries and restaurants, but if you see it, you saw it and it’s not speculation. Some people don’t care and it’s not an issue. Some people do.

Condensation is an issue in food processing plants. The theory is bacteria can grow on your ceiling. When water drops from your ceiling, it can have that bacteria in it and fall on the food. Now your food has the bacteria.

Good plants clean and sanitize their ceilings often. Great plants wipe condensation off their ceilings all day long.

Have you witnessed similar things elsewhere?

I have a kid who works there. I get 30% off. May get that deal...

Fresh Market where I am has very high quality meats. I shop their because of my son, but I appreciate the quality. They are expensive, no doubt, but their $20 meal deals are usually pretty good, even at full price.

I chose the crab cakes and steak. I love sea bass, but I made it for Christmas anyway and my friend has been telling me she likes the crab cakes at FM.

Jax - Most of my friends don't like to cook, so I've gotten all of them onto the Little Big Meal. They're usually very easy to prepare, and some are very good deals. The only time I pass them up is if there are too many filler items that aren't part of the meal itself (dinner rolls, fruit, cookies, etc.).

What makes it shitty? It might be smart water.

I saw a gal working at Rouses adjust her mask for easy access, shove an index finger to the second digit and pull out a booger that should have been priced by the pound, enjoy it as her between break snack, and go back to cleaning the deli slicer. I passed on the garlic bologna that day but hey...today I stopped in said Rouses for eggs and milk.

You pick your battles.

Plus she’d get an upper digit OT rating, provided the mugshot didn’t show her digging for gold. And what the hell...she seemed to enjoy it. Maybe it was Ranch flavored.

I’d buy the Fresh Market meals and use the shitty meat water to make an au jus, little better than bouillion, some garlic powder, maybe a booger for thickener.

But then again imNotBatman.

I’ve been in the restaurant/grocery business for damn near 20 years. It’s funny that you apparently think things are immaculate save for one Fresh Market.
