I think there's a difference myself. Freshly ground is more potent than pepper in the can. Also, you can dial up the texture from fine to coarse with a grinder.

The use of "Sammies" instead of sandwiches needs to die a quick but painful death...

Very few things annoy me in life, but that saying does and I use fresh ground cracked pepper

I Did not click, but "deconstructed" pisses me off.

"Local" ... when it's not.
Was reading an online menu for a place in downtown Atlanta (can't remember where) ... the description for their shrimp and grits described the shrimp as "local." ... there's no shrimp producing body of water close enough to Atlanta for me to consider any shrimp served in the city to be HONESTLY referred to as "local" ...

The other term I would love to see die is "flavor profile" ...

I mean, if all you have is regular pepper that's what your gonna use, most aren't gonna drive to the store just to buy that phrase I will not repeat again. I'm not as weird as I come out right here
I use less pepper when it's freshly ground. I use both freshly ground and canned. Now, is it okay if I say "coarsely ground pepper" or "medium ground" in a recipe and leave out the "freshly"? Will that still annoy you?
I agree on "deconstructed". Not a fan.

Decadent. Hate to admit watch Pioneer Woman and Trisha Yearwood on Sunday morns cause nothing else on (except this Sunday British Open 3-11 a. m.) .When they pour bag of sugar or quart of cream in some dish instead of saying when want something really fattening they say when feeling decadent.

"Locally sourced"
"Protein" instead of meat.
When I was a kid and worked at a bakery I got sick of people asking if something was fresh. I hated that word, "fresh." Yes, we waited and just baked it because we knew you fat arse was coming at 10:20am Thursday morning. Or, no it's not fresh. Come back next week and maybe you'll get lucky.

I must be triggered by this stuff, because I agree with every single example in this thread

I hear what you are saying but the Georgia coast is only 4 hours away. If it is coming from there, I'd be fine with the description.
On the other side of the coin, "midwestern beef" is irritating. So durn what.

Nah, pretty big difference actually as far as different peppers are concerned.

I hope the majority of TD is reading this thread because it seems they're plenty of Peter Pans around here that can't seem to grow up, using "sammich" at every turn like a fricking 4th grader.
