That's silly. With that said, you should absolutely not take seriously anyone who tells you that FDL had anything close to the best pizza in Baton Rouge

What is the best pizza in BR?

Rocca is the best overall. Red Zeppelin has the best thin crust style pizza. La Contea has a decent pizza that is probably the closest to a New York style. Reginelli's has a decent casual pizza.

Haven't tried a couple of the newer ones mentioned in this thread, though.

The chunky sauce they use upsets many around here.

I wonder if the land underneath the business has become so much more valuable than the business itself.

I doubt it. Not much has changed in that little vicinity in years. Well except the service station across the street has added some more broken down cars to their stockpile

Fleur de Lis closing permanently after the thread about them being randomly closed is high comedy

This place will be open with another owner in the coming months. They will clean it up and give an updated look. And the employees will give a shite

But still curious who is actually in charge over there. Always found it odd that there wasn't someone that everyone knew and liked that was the "face" of the restaurant

I found this weird too. All of the big BR restaurants have a face, except this one, despite being one of the most well known in the city.

The most expensive restaurant in town is openly admitting they use a jarred pasta sauce in their lobster pasta

Rocca was really good the first time I went but it ends up just feeling like a poor man’s Domenica.

Actually this is inaccurate. A great deal has changed and is changing. I live in Mid-City and I'm seeing lots of young people and families move into the area. FDL is missing a great opportunity to revamp and take advantage of all the change that is occurring along Government St. And if they won't, maybe someone with a little more vision and pleasant customer service can take over that spot.

A chain steakhouse is the cornerstone of BR dining.
