Finally have proof Land O Lakes, Walmart & 2 types of Kroger butter are the same thing.

so next time y'all are looking to pay a couple more dollars for name-brand butter, remember all these guys are just slapping labels on the same government butter coming from the same plant.

Just want to point out the obvious and say that coming from the same plant doesn't mean they're all the same thing.

how so?

do they allow each company a little area to do their own processing?

i'm asking in all seriousness here; how could different types of butter from the same plant end up being handled differently?

they all say Grade AA btw.

eta, interesting, I googled that plant #55-304 and it appears to be coming from wisconsin.

i'm in TN.

Is there a discernible price difference?

If you want to upgrade butter, go by butterfat content.

My parents used to work for a beansprout plant in the 80-90s. Their processing was for 3 different companies, each one received different "grades" of bean sprout. Quality did in fact differ. I imagine some of that might be true for other plants as well.

But that being said, butter is butter to me. I just buy the big pack from sams.

I realize this phrase gets thrown around way too much, but in this case it's appropriate.

I don’t know shite about butter manufacturing. I do know that commercial bakeries bake all kinds of bread and use different recipes. Example: One bakery will bake Sunbeam, Walmart, Winn Dixie, etc. brand bread.

I only ever buy the store brand butter unless one of the name brands is on sale for even less.

If I'm getting a special butter, its Kerrygold or Amish butter.
