They need a simple growler filler tube on each tap. You've gotta fill a growler from the bottom up to keep it carbonated. They filled it like you would pour a pint.
i also think part of the problem was that my growler was a little warm when he filled it

Drinking this Mecha Hopzilla reminds me of the conversation we had last week off of the board about IPAs and the apparent difficulty in producing great ones--recipe and know how vs. ingredients. NOLA should be able to do better.

Cliffs?
FWIW, I agree.

Hopitoulas is like this for me too. To a lesser degree obviously than mecha.
Drinking so pro ipa's, Westbrook ipa's, jai alai ipa's, dale's pale ale, victory hop devil, bell's THA, etc the last few weeks makes even more apparent.

The success of 3way got us talking about how well a great IPA in a can will sell. There can't be some secrets that the brewers of the great ones have and won't release. It must be the difficulty in getting the proper ingredients to a great degree.

All about the recipe
I truly compare brewing to baking. You cant wing it. The recipe is paramount

I don't know. It seems like breweries could reproduce great IPA recipes though. I am ready for somebody in LA to produce a year-round IPA that I want in my rotation.

Absolutely. Look at the list JasonL posted.

All but one can be found in cans. I think hops can be difficult depending upon the varietal. Wasn't there a shortage of citra hops last year? This year a shortage of galaxy?
ETA: I can literally google the recipe for clones of plenty of popular IPAs. Seems to me it would be pretty simple to use one as a building block and tweak it to your palate. But I've never brewed. I'd welcome input from some of our more brew-savvy krewe members.

I don't get it either. You would think someone would call up FFF and offer to do a collab.
1. Steal Zombie Dust recipe
2. Underpants

Agreed. For the longest I thought it was supposed to be one of the easier beers to make because hops were forgiving. I was wrong.

As much as I like Cascade, their IPA is a dog. They should have access to whatever hops they need to brew a good IPA. Their has to be some skill, know how, and desire to make a good IPA.
I would think that NOLA should have access to good hops. If Good People can make good IPAs, then NOLA should be able to, as well.
I go back and forth on this.

Sexier new varieties like citra, simcoe, mosaic, etc, are generally hard to come by.
Lots of local, start-up breweries have trouble access.

Agreed. But me finding enough sexy hops for a 5 gallon DIPA batch is much different than a production brewery contracting enough of them for one of their beers.
That said, the current Mechahopzilla cans are much better than previous batches.
