I don't think it is at all "hops for the sake of hops."
It's a very focused, flavorful beer that shows off a highly specific range of flavors.

I would imagine pretty well. That is one beer that does not disappoint in my somewhat limited experience of it.

I won't say check my knuckles, but I will say that is the palm of a man who has never consumed cranberry juice and vodka in the same month, much less the same glass.

Having said that, it honestly isn't my cup of tea. I can't get on board this whole IPA movement of the last few years. I don't really like the overwhelming fruity hoppy notes.
I like beer to taste like earth. Nutty without being bitter. An english brew, like Old Peculier, is more my flavor.
