Going to put on a 50K at Clear Springs in MS on March 23rd. Will have to get up there and work on the course a few times before then.

How far is that from BR? We are coming down for Easter (after not making it at Thanksgiving or Christmas b/c of work) but I was planning on doing Grasslands 50 on the 23rd and then heading down. We could just as easy head down on the 22nd and do that on the 23rd. My main focus is Hells Hills 50 and the Silver Rush 50 in Leadville. I really want to snag a Western States qualifying time.

I haven't talked to him much since Rocky Raccoon and would enjoy running another race with him.

I have great genetics and I transform my body quickly when I commit to working out and eating right. It only takes 4-5 weeks for me to see significant changes but the diet is critical and beer has basically been the biggest food group for me lately...big high gravity beers...everynight for 3 months.

This is the perfect time of year for me to take a break and focus on getting back healthy and feeling good.

I had a great beer season in the fall and now its time to earn it back

That's exactly my problem (if one were to call that a "problem"). I can't keep killing a couple bombers of 9% beers every night. That's a bad trend.

Cutting beer out will not happen for me. Just need to back off a bit and up the running.

It's roughly 2 hours north of BR, in the middle of nowhere Mississippi. It's in the Homochitto National Forest and the trails are beautiful. Well marked with easy road access for aid stations. Just announced it last week and already had high interest. This year will be somewhere between a fat arse event and a full fledged ultra race, given the short lead time. But there will be aid stations and a low entry fee. Gonna ramp it up for 2013.

Thinking of doing Pikes Peak marathon in August. But gonna have to see how badly Disney kills my budget next month then re-evaluate.

Did the Leadville marathon last year. That one killed me. There's just no way to train for that altitude combined with the mountain running around here. It took me as long to get to Mosquito Pass at 13.1 there as it took me to run the Louisiana Marathon (3:24).

I do want to get to TX to do an ultra. Maybe this is the year.

I blame on this damn thread. I try to stay away from here during the week.

I need to get back to running. My knees (and belly) have gotten worse since I stopped.

Guess I need to pull out the old brace and get at it.

It contributes no doubt. I was following the 2 beer rule/guideline pretty good for a long time. I just need to get back with the program.

Too funny Coater! You could be right though, because I am not going to stop drinking beer. I'll get back on the 2 beer rule during the week and hope my back allows me to keep running.

They aren't even in the same ballpark Hulkk. Now that you've had the top tier stuff, you won't go back.

I'm going to probably be taking it easier the next few weeks myself.... Try to only enjoy a FBD 2 or 3 nights a week. I stepped on the scale the other day and my holiday glutiny caught up to me a bit. I need to shave about 5-10 lbs which shouldn't be to hard.

ate at shapley's last night. had the bone-in filet. it was heavenly. my only gripe is the beer still sucks so wine is the only real option.

I'll be back there for sure.

If I remember correctly, SN Pale Ale is the only beer worth a damn. I really like wine, but I have a hard time paying 3 or 4 times retail at a restaurant. These days I usually drink other stuff and then order a glass of red to have with the steak.
