My first statement is people are losing weight on low carb diets because not only are they cutting carbs but also cutting calories by not eating bread, pastas, and fried foods they normally would consume in addition to their meal.
That's not what you said

People are losing weight with keto, paleo, etc because they are removing foods like bread, pasta, etc that have huge amounts of calories (in addition to the carbs).
Carbs are a macronutrient and have less calories per gram than a gram of fat, another macronutrient

The regime Joe office worker isn’t eating 5,000 calories a day in fat and protein and losing weight. Stop it.
Goalposts moved.

A cup of spaghetti noodles has like 230 calories. No one is eating just a cup of noodles.
Now imagine sitting down to a plate of pasta with red sauce, meatballs, Italian sausage, Parmesan cheese. Of course some will have bread with that. Maybe a Caesar salad as well.
The pasta alone will count for like 600 calories of that meal and about 120 g of carbs in just the pasta alone.
Now remove all the pasta, bread, and croutons from the meal. The calorie count just plummeted.
Simple stuff, really.
But your made up fantasy scenario this is some world class athlete who burns thousands of calories a day who can eat 5,000 calories and still lose, not the regular office worker in which this thread was intended to help.

Have you ever thought that maybe you are losing weight because it’s harder to find food to consume just like you said?
You are probably unknowingly restricting calories by imposing a huge hurdle in your daily diet (no carbs)
Fast food is dangerous because it’s so easy to pull through and pop 1,000 calories in your mouth and wash it down with a coke.

I made a comment in jest about how absurd it sounds (and it does) when we are listing baconators and fried chicken as healthy keto lunches

I mean it was getting late and I was headed to bed.
Weak attempt at a "gotcha" though

Further confirming nothing but shite posting from you in this thread.
You've done nothing in this thread but essentially take Mingo's "you're fat" bit.

You're strangely defensive over this
And Mingo....

Just calling it like I see it.
You either don't understand low carb and are stuck with the 1950s mindset about fat, or you're just shite posting. Neither is a good look, but yet you can't stop with the condescension. It's kinda fascinating honestly.

LOng POst - Just skip it

I would like for the record to state that I have never in my keto life, had three burger patties for a meal. I have never had a baconator and don't even know who sells this fast food product.
As I said earlier, I don't eat a lot of fast food because so much of it is heavy bread and breaded, and fried. I checked and I said to Keto diet on fast food is difficult. At that point, in response to the OP's request, I gave quite a few options where he could find Keto acceptable food at fast food places and restaurants.
So I can address the confusion that has been thrown around, No, you can't eat whatever you want and lose weight. You can't eat a hamburger, fries, chips and candy bar three or four times a day, with potato chips in between. However, my evidence (240 pounds in June of 2020 and 170 pounds this morning, with no increase in exercise) seems to indicate that eating a keto diet, (No bread, no rice, no potatoes, very few carrots or other starchy or sugary foods, no candy bars, or milk shakes or ice cream on highly processed foods, will help you lose weight. To the person who stated I claim to eat the vienna sausages I want and still lose weight, I did not say that. I said the fat content in that product helps me (Occasionally - when my weight loss stalls) to return to weight loss. I also never said I eat all the fat bombs I want. I do believe they are a part of keto plan, to help you lose weight.
Keto theory is based on the body making the best/easiest conversion of food to stored fat coming from carbohydrate consumption. That is a nutritional fact. I base that statement on my biochemistry background and my wife's nutrition degree. I am pretty sure there are also studies that show this as fact.
If you deny the body carbohydrates, it will metabolically switch energy production to some other nutrition source. In the keto diet, that is fat breakdown into energy. Once you convert your metabolism to fat breakdown, the body will begin to utilize your fat reserves to energy production AS LONG AS YOUR CALORIE CONSUMPTION OES NOT MNEET YOUR BODY'S DEMAND. Body demand is based on height and body build, combined with activity level. This means a 6'4" tall person who runs a great distance each day, or splits firewood all day, or digs ditches all day (you get the idea I hope) will be able to eat more calories than a person who watches TV all day long and only leaves the couch to go to the refrigerator.
No one can eat four pounds of bacon a day and lose weight, unless that eat it while running two marathons or an iron man competition a day. It it is the same with the baconator sandwich minus bread that seems to be the direction the conversation has centered on.
Saturated or unsaturated fat? The keto recommendations I follow emphasize non saturated fat consumption (i.e. avocado oil, olive oil) it emphasizes eating low fat meats, avoiding fast food and consumption of enough fiber to keep everything moving through you. It doesn't recommend the consumption of hamburger, bacon or high carb vegetables. It also has recommendations on calorie consumption, based on body size, activity level and age. The recommendations for each person will vary slightly, or greatly, based on many factors. I am married to a nutritionist who knows these things and has nutrition textbooks to consult in order to help her husband, who in the past was willing to eat pounds of starchy food, covered in gravy and high fat gumbo each day.
Just a general statement. Most medical schools do not offer coursework in nutrition. They are too busy teaching bones, muscles and organ function for the four years it takes to learn those things to waste time on nutrition. Your doctor may well be prescribing the latest drug pushed by a drug salesman when you show up with a problem, expecting him/her to quickly solve it so you can g back to Wendy's. There is simply too much for them to remember to be much of an authority on nutrition. They probably also know they stand an ice cube in hell's chance of influencing your nutrition. Their best hope is to tell you "More exercise, less calories, avoid baconator sandwiches" when you show up 80 pounds overweight looking for a way to avoid a heart attack, because you have started having shortness of breath and left arm pain on a daily basis.
What is the very best Keto diet? It varies from person to person. There is a lot of information out there. All of it has application to someone. The "five baconators a day" recommendation works great for bubba, because he says it does. That is good enough for ne, because I know there is no way in hell I would lose weight doing that. I keto to a fairly strict set of rules because I have demonstrated the diet I follow (not exercise, because I never changed that) helps me lose weight. I am a cardio patient (Heart valve replacement, TIA history, no diabetes, no high BP, Heart rate held constant with a pacemaker, bla-bla-bla), so I have tons of medical testing to show I am not killing myself (as far as any blood work physical testing, or physical examination can determine) with my keto diet. The only real comment I have received from any of the four doctors I see is "Boy you have lost a lot of weight. 80% of my patients have gained weigh each time I see them and you continue to lose. How do you do it? Keto? That must work, I guess.
Hopefully I did not call anyone stupid or an a-hole. If I did, I apologize. It was not intentional, to even hint that I feel that way about you or your opinions.
Lets all meet at Wendy's for lunch today. I'd like to see this baconator thing that everyone here is eating. The photos they post on their ad look great. I want to see if the sandwich they hand me is so pretty.

I understand it pretty well on my end. I've gone low carb quite a few times to get the results I wanted and never did I stoop to eating Wendy's and fried chicken as a way to reach those means.
If people get the results they are looking for, then good for them. Frankly I think going to fastfood restaurants leads to the temptation to "treat yourself" so I avoid them.

Your posts beg to differ.

Good for you. Others, myself included have. No one has advocated for a diet consisting mainly of those things though. So your comments are basically useless. OP asked specifically about those kinds of places.

Then maybe next time just skip the thread.

I'd imagine the vast majority of keto people don't. Mingo is just Mingo.

Except for Mingo apparently. All the saturated fat and preservatives has given him super intelligence as well.
