That's the way I looked at it. I asked myself, if neither was available, which brewery would I miss more.

which is exactly why I went with Shiner over Clown Shoes. I wouldn't miss anything if Clown Shoes stopped distributing to Texas, but if Shiner went away, I'd never be able to drink a beer in a restaurant around here again

The only Clown Shoes beer that I have liked so far has been the Clementine. Shiner Bock is still a good solid beer that can be found every where and I also enjoy their Oktoberfest, Black Lager, and Wild Hare.

Rogue doesn't do much for me and I still haven't had the tin roof porter which sounds like their best beer

That's the only one i haven't had.

I've had

Hoppy Feet
Hoppy Feet 1.5
Blaecorn Unidragon
Porcine Unidragon
Ghenghis Pecan
Tramp Stamp
Muffin Top
Eagle Claw Fist
Flight of the Pimp (Clown Shoes/Brash Collaberation)
Chocolate Sombrero

and all of them have been great, IMO.

Tetu, how are you going to do the next bracket? I would suggest pairing them with number of votes. For example, Green Flash (38/39) would be a #1 seed, and Pretty Things (11/27) would be an 8 seed. But it's your show, do with it what you will.
ill be doing something like this with a possible 17th and 18th playing against 15th and 16th for the final two spots (similar to college basketball final spots)

We'll see. It prob will not be up today.

This is basically my reasoning for going with Shiner as well. I'm certainly not crazy about shiner at all... but I'm in TX and if shiner weren't available, I'd be stuck with BMC at a lot of places.

I agree, but when thinking about it, I've had some Pumpkinator, Divine Reserve, and Bishop's Barrel all in my fridge more recently than anything from Rogue, so Saint Arnold has to get the nod.
this is what did it for me

You missed Vampire Slayer? That beer was really freaking good.

Maybe it is just me, but something about Clown Shoes doesn't sit well with me. I give the guy credit for being a savvy businessmen but view Clown Shoes like the boy band of beers. He wasn't a brewer but had a distribution network, went to a brewer and said, "hey, make me beer" and bam, Clown Shoes. It seemed like just overnight there was CS everywhere, it is the only beer that is at every single place I shop. I usually hit 3 or 4 places to round up the haul that I am looking for but every place has the same CS 5 or 6 bottles deep.

I wonder how many true brewers CS is squeezing out of the market? End CS rant and start general question - I wonder at what point we will start seeing some craft breweries go under or pull way back on production. I know that I am not buying a lot of stuff that I used to buy. I still pickup some Stone, Sierra Nevada, etc but try to stay local as much as possible now.

I didn't know he wasn't a brewer. Hell Tin Roof is the same way, the guy wasn't a homebrewer or nothing, just had some money. But the difference, is that Clown Shoes, IMO, makes some very good beers, Tin Roof does not. If Tin Roof made the variety and quality of brews that CS made, i'd drink Tin Roof. The not being a homebrewer thing only hurts the company if they make a shitty beer, IMO.

It's going to happen eventually... I already see beers like Stone and Sierra Nevada way past their date on the shelves.

I think craft beer should be more regional, which contradicts the desire to get good stuff here like Great Divide, DFH, etc... but it's a lot of fun to travel and try things for the first time.

i agree with this, its not like we are talking about a bmc or anything. LOTS of breweries are started by people that like beer, but cant brew it themselves.

That is true and it shouldn't bother me but something about CS does...

We'll keep seeing more of this type of thing as craft beer gets bigger. Someone already mentioned Tin Roof. I know Jackelope in Nashville is the same way. Two girls from Vandy with no previous brewing experience started it. When I stopped in there over the holidays they were serving up some pretty good beer, however.

There are probably many more examples of that.

I'd be extremely happy if we got everything that was produced in the region...
