We have rented office space in Creative Bloc just a block or so over, so occasional lunch, but also love Cocha for dinner.
Best wine menu in town by far.

Lucy’s was pretty cool with decent enough bar food but they didn’t last too long and Lava Cantina came after and same thing, closed down shop rather fast.
Downtown seemed to be improving 10-12 years ago and then it came to a screeching hault. I wonder why?

baton rouge move out of the 1800's..
Ironically I think Baton Rouge’s downtown was more of a fun place in the 1800s
I think some people pride themselves on keeping BR’s downtown crappy - they’re convinced it keeps BR’s ‘small town feel‘
However, there are tiny towns around the globe that have better downtowns than BR
When I worked downtown 5 years ago - I saw the potential but I think funds were diverted to another area of town

Stupid drinking rules and a heavy police presence ran people away....also too many bad people started comming downtown and it ran the college crowd away..
It's dead downtown now at night except for a very very few resturants

Everyone moved away

That was past my partying age so I didn't really partake but for some time it seemed like a lot of people were hanging out on 3rd street on the weekends.
I think the area needs more apartments and condos. Restaurants and bars would follow most likely.

Going out seemed different 15-20 years ago. I know everyone gets older and life goes on, but you had way more variety back then.
The varsity, the Caterie, the station, Texas club, triple a, southdowns, Fox and hound, ringside at Sullivan’s.
Great memories.

Agreed. I was a regular in many of those places that you mentioned. Even as late as 2004-2005 when my wife and I were dating.
The current 20-28 year olds don't seem to like or frequent the same types of places that we did.

Yep. I agree. A lot sure has changed with going out trends.

My wife got pregnant in 2006 and poof, our going out days were over

LSU is the only SEC school to have a bar scene that holds regular free drinks for 2 hours.
Those shenanigans are your expectations for a "bar experience"?
I'm old now. I want nothing to do with that

I also love the parking thing. Idk if it has changed, but I never had an issue. If it was a crowded night there was that garage that was like $3 to park. Parking isn’t an issue.

Do I know you? This was my exact life for a few years.
I was too young to be doing most of it, but I was doing it anyway.

That's the cycle. Bulldog was the cool place to go when I was 21 and now they're seemingly never slammed.

They’ve added a good bit. Extremely overpriced but it’s there.

Downtown is a pain in the arse to park
Are we talking about the same Baton Rouge that has endless free parking in the evenings and is only like 5x5 blocks? shite, go to a real city and see how much parking is a pain.

I find it to be vastly more of an aggravation trying to find parking "downtown" in Lafayette
