Being "shocked" that people want to comment about a "controversial" restaurant owner on discussion board seems a little silly.
Trust me. In no way am I shocked how this thread went
Annoyed? Yes. Shocked? No.

I would think that the owner would learn to not be such a tool regarding his past political statements. But, maybe acting the way he does, doesn't cost him anything in New Orleans. It's a bold strategy and we'll see how it works out. Maybe their business model can survive Latoya.
They seem to be doing pretty well

I can’t imagine bitching that someone has a 15% fee instead of raising prices 15%. What a waste of time.

8+ page T&W thread. Been awhile since we’ve had one

He is giving them more money.
He's not, the consumer is.
I mean someone has broken it down earlier, if they were to increase the prices by 15% what's the difference. It is way more transparent and upfront to the consumer that he is specifying why cost is going up. At some point the costumer is paying everyone's salary, in what magical world are they not no matter how the works are getting paid?

Equally wasteful to defend the practice of instituting a fee vs just raising prices?

I can't wait to hear this one. How so?

Don’t you know? Big bad business owners have rooms full of money they’re hiding from us cretins. That’s what the people on Reddit say.

Do i really need to "re-argue" everything i just discussed with Salmon and Rowbear?
It's a discussion board. If you don't like the discussion, either pick a portion of what i said, and discuss, or ignore it. It's like the people that are shocked with Parish Brewery has a 10 page thread on people bitching about it. It's a discussion board. That's the purpose. To discuss.
And if you actually read what i posted, you'd see my evolution from what i initially perceived to what i ended up concluding is different. BASED ON DISCUSSION. Otherwise, you are just here to nag.

If arguing one side is wasteful the other side is just as wasteful.
It's a message board though. That's what we do here. Waste time.

I thought you meant it was wasteful for TaTW to do this. My bad.

I do a 3 time rule, once could be a bad day, twice maybe it happens again, 3 times is just a trend... Them adding it on there isn't a huge deal to me, them being a counter service there really isn't a need to "tip" to begin with but if people wanna pay cool.

I would have given them more than 15% on a takeout during these trying times. Hell, I’ve been tipping the subway and jimmy johns workers as well the few times I’ve been during covid.

I tip 20% at all my favorite counter service restaurants
most will still bring you your food and refill glasses and whatnot
the only difference for most is where you order
