How much is their shipping? They want you to enter payment before they show you shipping cost.

$36.14 for 2 day shipping. A few bucks more for one day. Total cost for mine = $54.14.

You paid 36 dollars in shipping for an 18 dollar king cake?

That's pretty much the norm for any king cake. I think most bakeries shop out a few king cakes each year.

Sorry that you're poor.

I've never had a king cake that I'd pay $55 for, and I'm not poor. Just cause you got it doesn't make it stupid to spend it.

This king cake better give me multiple orgasms for that much. There are too many good king cakes in town to bother with all that.

I don’t find the shipping cost to be outrageous. From where I am, it’s basically a 4 hour round trip plus waiting in line and such to get my cake. My time is worth a lot more than essentially $8.00/hour.

The packaging for their king cakes is absolutely beautiful. Has anybody tried their Cream Cheese or Cinnamon? I want to try one. What a great gift to send to customers.

Must be Saturday delivery because last time I checked it was $22 shipping cost for a Monday/Wednesday order.

I find their cake has less filling than last year. Coconut flavored king cake was pretty good but I'm a sucker for their cream cheese filling.

In the words of the great Billy Gueldner,

quote:

“You gone learn tuh-day!”

And in the words of one other famous Bill,

quote:

Shall I compare thee to a Ponchatoula king cake?
Thou art more lovely and more temperate:
Rough winds do shake the darling strawberries of May,
And summer's lease hath all too short a date: Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines,
And often is his goldsaw bread dough dimmed;
And every fair from fair sometime declines,
By chance, or nature's changing course of toasted almonds, untrimmed:
But thy eternal summer of Bavarian cream shall not fade,
Nor lose possession of that fair thou ow'st;
Nor shall Death brag thou wander'st in Jean-Luc's shade
When in eternal lines to time thou grow'st:
So long as men can breathe or eyes can see chantilly cream
So long lives this, and this gives life to thee

I’ll give ya $42 and you can buy the small. If you don’t love it, simply give me my money back and the rest of the king cake.

P.S. if you don’t love it,

I go to a local king cake scalper and pay $28 each for these. They are good cakes and I hate driving to Michoud.
Shipping though I would do two day rather than next.

I volunteered to buy the first King Cake for the office. The vote was to go to Antoine's Bakery. This was a couple of years back. When I saw the prices I was pissed..If I remember it was over $30.00(?). Eff Me I felt like a fool and couldn't back out and get a Rouse's cake. King cake is such a rip off. It is a freakin cinnamon roll with colored icing. Not sure if they still make the Tastee donut king cake..My inner child likes those the best.

Not everybody is as lucky as you to live in the New Orleans area. So, yes, I pay to ship one king cake a year.

King cakes where I live cost $40 - just for the cake. So for a little bit more money, I can have shipped a king cake that I love and that satisfies that taste for home.

For those interested in shipping king cakes, Haydel's is about $48 with shipping, which is one of the best prices I have found. King Cake arrives fresh.

This year, I am trying Dong Phuong for the first time. While the king cake might not give me a big O, it likely will put a big smile on my face.

Meh.
There are probably 20,000 of these super duper crazy expensive king cakes shipped via overnight each year. It’s with it to a lot of people

And I really wish people would quit with the reference to cinnamon rolls. It’s stupid

What I find so funny is Dong Phuong has been making king cakes since the 80’s. They got put on the Beard list, the foodies started posting about them on social media and now all of a sudden it’s considered the holy grail of king cakes. It’s so stupid.
