I have always heard these are the best king cakes to get from New Orleans. They sent me an email that their website is up for deliveries and I just placed my order. Just a heads up for anyone else interested.

I've had it. It was good, but not so great to wait in line for or go out of my way to order it.

I personally don’t like them. But I know I’m in the minority. It’s not your typical king cake.

i like them, but i wish they doubled the amount of filling.

I like the one from le petit sophie, assuming they are still opening and make it.

After hearing all the hype over the past several years, I finally decided to get one last year. It was OK, but I certainly wouldn't go out of my way for one. Amaretto Walnut from Keller's Bakery remains my favorite.

They were apparently delayed opening sales as they’re in litigation regarding their branding on all their boxes/bags

King cakes are legit though. Have 2 reserved already

It's a damn fine king cake but I think Antoine's is great too. In BR Calandros makes a great one too.

In terms of quality and ease of obtaining, it’s hard to beat a Calandro’s king cake.

The most over-rated garbage ever

There’s a lot of ever-rated Mardi Gras things, but ‘king cakes’ from that Vietnamese bakery are # 1

If you're willing to go out of your way to get a really really food king cake, then drive to Springfield and get any flavor from Navarre's!

those do look good. they have some good history ehind them also

quote:

Hi, my name is Ernest Navarre, Jr. I starter making donuts in 1967 at 12 years of age. By time I was 17 my dad built me a little 504 square foot donut shop in Amite, Louisiania for $2,400. It was the last $2,400 dollars to his name. I opened on April 16, 1972 under the name Ernie's Donut King. After ten years I started working on my own king cake recipe. I worked on that recipe for 2 years and I feel that it is the best king cake recipe that I ever made. We been open at our current location since 29 October 2005 under the name Navarre's Famous King Cakes. PS., Years later I PAID BACK my father his initial $2,400 plus interest
