A friend of mine was asking and I honestly don’t know the answer. TIA.

*sigh*

Not really. Nine Dragon Noodle on Highland/Lee is mediocre. The Hangover Ramen at Umami is good, but they only offer the one type, so I wouldn't call it a "ramen place".

Honestly, a full blown ramen shop is something the city could really use.

Yeah that’s surprising. I feel like opening one up near campus would be a cash cow.

Baton Rouge isn't the best place for East Asian cuisine other than Vietnamese and Sushi, and all the good Vietnamese places are on the East side of town where most of that community lives (Sherwood & Broadmoor).

There's not a lot of good Chinese, Indian, or any Korean Restaurants, and only really one, maybe 2, good Thai spots.

Baton Rouge has a very strong restaurant scene for a city its size, but keep the hate alive if you'd like

That is really untrue. Baton Rouge isn't New Orleans (no where is), but it's still got some pretty damn good food. BR probably has the best food of any metro its size in the U.S.

There’s a better food scene in Lake Charles, Monroe and Natchitoches than there is in Baton Rouge, and I haven’t even left the state.

Let me guess, you’re born and raised in Baton Rouge (or close by), went to LSU and you work in construction where you make a decent living and you’ve convinced yourself that you’re living in a great city with your vacations consisting of 30A in the summers and winter park or breckinridge in the winters.

Blatantly and patently false.

Partially true. Baton Rouge isn't a great city, but it's not a terrible one either. There are a few things this city actually does pretty well, including food.

You clearly have some sort of insecurity wrapped up around BR. Did some Jody from the Capital City bang your GF or something?

GTFO, troll.

To answer OP's question, there are places to get ramen, but no ramen places.

Sake sushi has a ramen dish and, I believe, Drunken Fish does as well.

EDIT: Not Drunken Fish. Umami's hangover ramen is what I was thinking of.

Not directed at me, but I'll play: Born in Lafayette, did go to LSU, attorney, and my vacations/travels have brought me all over the country and world. I don't believe I live in a "great city" but I do think Baton Rouge is a very pleasant place to live all things considered, and when it comes to the availability of good food, it punches way above its weight.

But let me guess: it doesn't have the original Johnny's, so it's shite, right?

I agree with you. I've been impressed with some of the restaurants that have popped up since I moved out of BR. City Pork on Jefferson is very good, and Elsie's Pies is a place that was sorely needed in BR.

I still think the city has a long way to go in terms of diversity of food and "finer" dining without being a blase steakhouse, but it's absolutely trending in the right direction.

Check out Cocha downtown and Kalurah under the overpass if you haven't already. Both are doing really interesting things.

What do you mean by "asian"?

There's better Indian food in BR (although, I haven't done Saffron in NOLA yet).

Outside of that, I'm not sure in what Asian food it beats New Orleans.
