For dinner, yes. For lunch, counter service is cheaper and quicker. I'm dreaming of a counter service Mexican restaurant for lunch. Order at the bar, fill your drink, and pick up your order when called.

The best experience is sitting at a bar with another person and having a bartender who understands to keep his/her distance while knowing to look out for empty glasses/when its time to order. I enjoy the hell out of that.

The actual reason tipping exists is pure bullshite. However, I’m also a believer that if you don’t want to tip when eating out, don’t go out to eat.
I avoid trying to eat out unless we have a gift card because it’s expensive enough already. There’s no reason tipping should exist at all.

well I can honestly say that I do not really remember being served when by myself.
My sister eats alone all the time, but I do not frequent sit down places if alone.
More fast food or get it and go...Meat and 3 types or Chinese.
I eat in my car a fair amount of time. I do not even eat in fast food places alone usually.

That's not being a good waiter.
If my buddy is finished to my right and the waiter passes by the table, don't just leave the empty plate there because I'm eating slow.
No good restaurant does this

Eh, it's a hard habit to break if you waited tables. Casual and even mid-tier servers practically jump for joy when you do it, so it can be hard to remember to turn it off in nicer dining. 
Fortunately, servers in nicer places tend to notice you're done early enough to swoop in.

I was about to disagree with Jones myself. This is a big pet peeve with some of my family, particularly with my Mom, Dad and my nephew when we've gone on some restaurant trips. It certainly happens in casual restaurants, but when it happens in a nice restaurant, we all look at each other in disbelief. We have been known to politely ask that they wait until we have all completed the course before they start leaning over the table removing dishes. It's annoying to be trying to complete your dish with wait staff clearing the table. It's also uncomfortable for those who have not finished eating.
I get the other side of the argument that people don't want to sit with a dirty plate in front of them, but I think that's weak.
