Sometimes I think my boss only hired me to have someone go eat lunch with him every day. So its mostly eating out (on the company's dime).

Shouldn't you be paying?

He probably means it’s billed to client as travel expense

Yep, this. When I travel for work breakfast/lunch/dinner is a travel expense that is billed to the client

Mostly I eat out but I'm trying to switch to brown-bagging it. More healthy and less expensive.

I bring a lunch every day. Usually a pb/honey/banana sandwich and a couple apples will get me through. I don’t really eat out unless I’m outta town or it’s a special occasion.

I have become "that guy" that I never thought I would when it comes to leftovers at work.
At least once a week someone will put out all of their leftover catered food from meetings. I make a pass into the main break early afternoon to scoop up some leftovers. Usually good stuff too, but at worst it's sandwiches/wraps.

If this counts as brown bagging it, then ...yeah

I eat in the cafeteria at work. Food is free but have to supervise kids.

One of the better ways to save money is bring your lunch to work. It adds up.

Since I am rarely in the office, I definitely go out when I am.

I drink Huel mixed with matcha and banana/blueberries every day for lunch. Some days I have to get out of the office for a break, so I drink it in my truck at the airport viewing lot.

I'm retired but my wife still works and she brown bags it. She will take leftovers from whatever I cook for dinner the night before most times so it's not like she's eating sandwiches every day.
Like today, it's red beans and rice with jalapeno cornbread and I'll toss in a container of fresh cut fruit----pineapple, mango and strawberries to snack on for something sweet.
