His most recent RB&R day video at the Poydras Walk On's was pretty brutal and hilarious.
It looked like he was the only customer in there too.

Excellent link devoid of video.
Good work here.

Walk-On's has really become like just about every other restaurant once it becomes a chain. What a shame. One other thing that bothers me, and its not because of taste, is the fact that any crawfish and shrimp on the menu is labeled imported. Under Louisiana Classics - crawfish etoufee (imported), fried shrimp (imported) and on and on. Man, come on - a Louisiana born chain and you import crawfish and shrimp?
I'm not one of these fish snobs that has been eating swai for 20 years after being told its domestic blue catfish. It's not that at all. Support the local population that helped you get started. I've eaten there a handful of times in the past year and since I have noticed the imported stuff, don't plan on going back.

Why do businesses go buy fish halfway across the world instead of going down the road to getting the fish straight from the source?

I was done with it after going just 1 time. Highly overrated! There is too many other good options with both better food and drinks.

When the first location opened the menu was much better
Since then, they have removed all the good options on the menu
They have totally revamped the menu to make it appeal to every other state they are in and now it's just a cookie cutter chain restaurant.

Then the food actually got better, but they had the bad reputation from the food sucking.
Then they started franchising and the food started to drop off.
As long as you look at Walkons as a sports bar that serves food it’s fine. Once you start looking at it as a restaurant with TVs then it really starts lacking.

HTM has gotten stale. I remember when he was actually funny.

The quality of Walk-On's food has gone up a lot over the years. (To be fair, except for one time when my Mom was in Cabrini, I've only ever eaten at the Baton Rouge locations.) If I want to have a few drinks, eat wings/a burger and shoot the shite about sports, I'll go there.

Not trying to be an a-hole but did you mention it to the manager? While it may have no impact that is the kind of thing that does move the needle if it can be moved but chains have a lot of momentum so it takes a lot of people willing to take a couple of minutes to nudge them off their current path.

No. You are correct - I have a connection to the local manager and will reach out.

Who cares what this guy thinks? I haven’t been a fan of Walk-On’s for a while but am not going to let this guy, or the F&DB sway my opinion of a restaurant.

Why would a chain of 75 restaurants go the more expensive route nationally?
Again, re-read my previous post. People outside of LA don't care where it's from and the local shrimp boats are charging both arms and both legs instead of making it affordable to do locally. The legislature made it easier for restaurants to label their menus they serve shrimp. Simply stating "may be imported" is all that's needed.
We've eaten at Duke's for work a bunch of times and every time we ask, they tell us it's imported. They don't even try anymore. There is zero incentive to get fresh shrimp at places like these.

I don’t understand why restaurants won’t use domestic catfish produced locally. That’s one of the reasons I’ll never get fish from Cork’s ever again as it’s imported Vietnamese “catfish.”

He went to a chain on Poydras. The experience wasn’t shocking to me.

I enjoy his videos for entertainment and comedy, not for food reviews.
