I'm trying to cook a recipe my buddy gave me for New Orleans BBQ Shrimp but it says "devein shrimp but leave shells on". I found this video, is she doing it right?

I cant watch the video.
If I was going to cook barbeque shrimp and devein the shrimp I would just peel the tail and devein it but leave the head on.

I've never de-veined shrimp for anything at anytime, especially BBQ shrimp.

I've never deveined shrimp before making bbq shrimp. It's not necessary. People can remove that easily when they peel the shrimp.I also use shrimp with the heads on.
Are you sure this is a serious thread? The video is more about her boobies than shrimp.

Yeah I was thinking that you could just peel it off like uppity people do before eating a crawfish tail. So no benefit to removing it then? Does it add to flavor to allow the sauce to penetrate the meat more if the shell is opened? As for the video, she has more videos than that one, I think it just coincidentally has the camera pointed at her boobs.

She can devein my lobster tail.
In all seriousness, that's how I would do it.

I might be weird but I eat the whole shrimp, shell and everything

I didn't see any shrimp. Are you sure you linked to the correct video?

No need to devein them if you have gulf shrimp. Farm shrimp maybe a different story, but gulf shrimp are fine.

A lady I knew that worked in the Ag school at LSU, named Shu Li, from China, said only the rich would peel their shrimp there and eat the meat. Everybody else ate the shell, and heads.

She also looks to be with child.

Take a sharp knife and make an incision down the back of the tail. The tail will split open and the shell will stay on. Filet knife works well.

What shrimp, they had shrimp in the video ?
Also I would never make BBQ shrimp unless I had head-on shrimp.
Dats where the flavor is

That would take way too long for BBQ shrimp. One of the beauties of BBQ shrimp is that it's pretty quick to make. Would take less time to devein that woman's boobies in the video.

Start earlier. I've used this method for head on BBQ shrimp before and it works fine

I'm not deveining shrimp for bbq shrimp. I cook them whole head on, antennae and all.
If someone doesn't want to eat the vein, they can pull it off when they peel them. I'm sure as hell not doing it! That'd be like deveining crawfish before they're boiled. No sense in that and I'm sure I've eaten my share of crawfish doo doo.

Hey I hear ya...to each his own. I didnt do it to get the vein out...i did it to let the sauce get inside the shell.
