HoustonChick, I've never done meatloaf in a skillet. Have you always done that? Cool idea. I also think choosing ground turkey was a good foil for the strong taste of the chorizo. Peppermint in the dressing sounds great.

Brtigerfan, even if I'd thought of ravioli, I probably wouldn't have had the nerve to try. Looks beautiful. And the chorizo cream sauce? Yum!

MD's fork view was as awesome as always.

I thought of Ham for the sushi, but then I thought maybe R2R might have tried his hand at sushi before.

Normally, yes. But that skillet is used for everything, meatloaf, lasagna, dips. Just like cooking with it.

For which there is no real prize and no one can taste the dish anyway!

Here is one of my awful. Awful. AWFUL pizzas. I knew the crust was bad and I was so tired by that time that I just threw the toppings on.

Mine was waiting in the shadows like a coyote. She pounced on it shortly after the pics were taken. She couldn't care less about the source of my motivation. I cook it. She gets to eat it.

Thanks!

The meatloaf was really good, I thought. We didn't even dress it up much, just 12 oz. chorizo, 8 oz. turkey, an egg, bread crumbs, minced garlic, minced onion, spices. Normally I would add some cheese in there somewhere, but I don't think it needed that with the chorizo. And the mushroom stout sauce worked really well with it and even better with the potatoes.

i often do a red wine, onion and mushroom reduction for steaks or chicken..

i will use a stout in place of the wine next time.

and I'm with Darla, i've never used a skillet to make a meatloaf..

i will next time. bake at 375 for an hour?

Thank you Darla. The sauce you made sounds wonderful. I will take a lot of good ideas away from all this. There are some flavor combos I haven't ever considered.

R2R, I love black beans. The more I think about yours, I think it's perfect for chorizo. I'm going to make that with the rest of mine. Did you pre soak them?

Conclusion: Fun Bunch is indeed a lawyer.

ETA: I may have been the first person in the world to create Russian Imperial Stout Caviar, and I lost to cheese. Dammit. (note to self)

Degas, you had some ridiculously great ideas and execution.

I am impressed.

FWIW, I voted you #1. That was seriously creative.

It was melted cheese.

Yours was awesome! I think FB thought so too. He called it a little early IMHO.

The funny thing is that if people had gotten all down on the burger, he would have argued the other side.

A little late, but I'll throw in my 2 cents...

#5 would get my vote, but I can see how it didn't get much love with the lack of process pictures. Lots of effort went into those raviolis, and that chorizo cream sauce really looks/sounds fantastic. And the candied peppers seem like they'd go great with it.

#4 is next, for the same reasons everyone else gushed over it.

#8 I'd have third

I had too much going on this weekend, but I had thought about making chorizo potstickers with a tomatillo-peppermint dipping sauce. Now I'm a little intimidated after seeing all of these
