For me it wasn't so much the cheese but the chorizo venison combo that made me want to eat it.

Cheese actually made it lose some points IMO

Yeah I don't get all the cheese hate.
All the dishes looked awesome, as usual. But dang, how long was voting open for? I came to check entries yesterday and winner had already been decided.
Also, I enjoyed it more when everyone submitted their own entries, I guess it made it more personal/fun for me. Maybe even a little less complicated. Just my two cents though.
Looking forward to next time.

Looks like the demand for at least a whole day of voting is there.
Just means there is a lot of interest!

I'm okay with him calling it early... our dish wasn't going to beat out the top 2, but we might have fallen out of the top 3!

It's just more fun to read a 13 page thread when you know you actually get to vote at the end. The winner may have been obvious but others may have had a chance to move up a few spots.
I really am so impressed with every entry. I hope to one day participate in one of these and be able to be as creative as everyone has been so far.

I think it was just called early because of the weighted voting. There was no chance for anyone to catch up and he mentioned keeping the voting open for days.

Yeah, I totally understand the reasoning but voting was open for not even two full hours (unless I read that wrong). I just think a lot of people were looking forward to participating in the vote. It doesn't really matter, we will work out the kinks next time.

That's the real point. The winner doesn't matter as much as the participation by as many as want to be involved.

The way Fun Bunch presented the entries is the best way to do it IMO. It becomes too difficult to navigate through the pages and find them when you let people do it themselves.

Agree 100%.
In addition I loved the anonymity factor. Not so the voting is not "tainted", but because it is fun when the entrants are revealed.

Do we have to hide the names though? I'm sure it influences votes sometimes but think about the real competition, the chefs results are not a secret. I guess the only reason I would prefer it is it's just easier for me to keep track of them by names when it comes to voting. No worries either way though. I think it keeps it fair.

It would not change my vote one way or the other if we knew which dish belonged to which poster but I can see how some people would vote differently.

I'm the same, but I like the excitement of the unveiling.

I didn't get to vote, but I am extremely impressed with all of the entries. My vote would have went to the RIS caviar maki.

I had made a burger out of lamb and ground spicy kabob meat. And it was really good, so I kind of imagine the winners dish. The bacon with peppermint candy was really the best use of the peppermint.
I was thinking an onion rings with the beer as a batter base. I never got around to doing it though.
Hopefully next time.
