Debate: Are Egg Rolls the most overrated Asian dish?

They really aren’t that good in the grand scheme of Chinese food and it’s rare to have a good one. The typical egg roll is soggy and no good. Thoughts?
Also I’m not Oweo and have no relation to that troll…

Not even close. Maybe the most inconsistent Asian dish, but a good egg roll is magical.

My neighbors 2 doors down are from China. They’ve made some of their authentic Chinese dishes for us. They’re all delicious, and the egg rolls are incredible.
If you’ve only ever eaten egg rolls from a cheap Chinese place, that’s like judging Red Beans and Rice because you had it at Popeye’s.

I love egg rolls! I've had a few bad ones without much protein in them, but the majority are delicious. Sometimes, I'd rather just have egg rolls with some dumplings or shrimp toast for my meal. In fact, most of the time, that's what I get.

Fried egg rolls are probably more of a southern thing they adapted since LA fries everything
Egg rolls elsewhere and in Asia are probably more in tune with the lettuce type rolls

Honestly I don’t know. I just assumed their red beans sucked. I think I remember eating it as a kid and thinking it had a weird smoky taste or something. Different from my mom’s and I don’t think I’ve had Popeyes red beans since.

My normal order from the places I go is two egg rolls, fried dumplings, then whatever entree and rice I want. I proceed to eat the egg rolls and dumplings, then like 1/4th of the entree and save it for lunch the next day. It is really a well balanced meal
