Gonna be in Nola Saturday night for work and my wife is coming with me. It’s her birthday, so we’re looking for somewhere to eat dinner. Not familiar with Nola at all but staying just across the river in Gretna/Terrytown area if that helps.

We don’t mind going downtown/FQ.

THE frick. Why?

You definitely do not want to go out to eat on the Westbank.

Do you want fine dining? Anything to avoid?

White Table Cloth:
R'evolution
August
Commander's Palace
Chemin a la Mer
Herbsaint
Gautreau's
Emeril's
La Petite Grocery
Coquette (not white table cloth but I have it in that category)

Old Gretna has some gems for lunch and dinner.

I would recommend Tan Dinh, Thanh Thanh, or Da Wabbitt for lunch. Then cross the river, take Tchoup exit, and dine at Brigtsen's, Clancy's or Bistro Daisy for dinner. Won't have to deal with parking in the Warehouse District or french quarter.

Are you Uber\Lifting over the bridge? If you’re driving I’d go somewhere uptown so parking isn’t an issue.

Clancy's (Uptown) or Bayona (FQ) get my usual votes.

Make reservations either way.

Lol taking a cont Ed course through Oschners that’s in Gretna. It’s an all day thing Friday-Sunday so chose hotel based on proximity.

Not looking for suit and tie, but a nice date night spot I guess. We’re 29-30 years old if that helps.

I imagine Uber/Lyft is the way to go. Trying to avoid parking and getting my windows smashed in as I don’t really know NOLA at all.

I was specifically referring to a birthday dinner.

I love Banana Blossom and Tan Dinh but that’s not what he’s looking for

There is a great neighborhood parade Saturday evening in the FQ. If you don't mind the parade crowds go to August or Mamou's.
If not try Bistro Daisy. Gautreau or Gabrielle's. The stuffed flounder at Gab is one of best dishes in the city.

GW Fins if y'all like seafood. My favorite place to eat in Nola. Also, they validate parking at a parking garage a block away. In the FQ but it's worth it.
