Darla Reviews Keto Friendly/Low Carb Products So You Don’t Have To

First up:
Shrewd Food Parmesan Herb Protein Croutons
Serving size is about 23 croutons. There are about 10 in this side salad, and that was plenty!
They are crunchy, light, nicely seasoned, and do what I want croutons to do in a salad, which is add texture, taste, and crunch.
Other flavors include Bacon Ranch and French Onion. I have not seen those in the store, only online.
The drawback, and it will likely be the drawback of every single product, is price. The five serving bags are between $5 - $7, but could be 10 servings if you are judicious. Worth it to me. They are also available in single serving bags, but I haven’t seen them.
I’ve seen them at Rouses and a second store (maybe Drug Emporium).
Verdict: It’s a yes from me, dawg.

Shrewd Food also flavors these same “puffs” in various ways and calls them a snack instead of a crouton. Shrewd. I’ve tried the Brick Oven Pizza Puffs, and also have this Nacho flavor to try.
The danger in eating as a snack, and not as a salad topper, is that you’ll (okay, I will) probably eat the entire 3 serving bag, which would still only be 6 grams of carbs.
There are many flavors, including some sweet ones. I’ll probably try a few more.

I got these the other day and are great to make nachos with! They have 3 different flavors too that I saw. These were $5.99 a bag at my Kroger.

Thanks for this guys. Keto foods are also easy to manage for diabetics.

Agree. Thanks Darla. I will post some more in a little while that I have tried and enjoyed and some that I didn’t..

I have tried many, and will post as I can. Your posts will probably jog my memory for others.

These aren't bad. I used them all the time:

These are pretty good. As you can see, they are small, but the flour tortilla taste is there. They make a good base for tapas.

And
Are both really good pasta substitutes. The Konjac noodles (bottom) are more like rice noodles, but a little chewier. Some people don’t like the texture, but I don’t mind it. I used these in a 10 minute chicken and spinach dish a couple of weeks ago- butter, spinach, leftover chicken, salt/pepper/garlic, and a little Heavy cream. Delicious.
I use the Palmini with meatballs and red sauce. It’s got a good Al dente bite to it. My local Drug Emporium has both, but I have them on my Amazon Subscribe & Save so I always have some on hand.

I disliked the palmini. Did not have pasta like texture at all to me. This is the only “pasta” I have had that does it for me to get that pasta fix. It has held up in anything I have made so far and has the pasta feel. It is rather expensive at $10 a box however.

Hilo Nacho Cheese Tortilla Style Chips
In my opinion, enjoying a product like this is directly proportional to how much you miss chips and want them to be good.
I asked my husband, a non keto product eating kind of guy, to give an honest opinion. He was willing to take a preliminary, what the hell am I eating taste, and a second, ok so it’s not gross and now I’ll really try to taste it bite. First reaction: Tastes like nothing. Second bite: It doesn’t taste bad and I could see someone (but not me) enjoying them with salsa.
My opinion: They actually are a perfect vehicle for salsa. I’ve put some in a ziplock and enjoyed them in Mexican restaurants, eating salsa with my friends. Servers have not seemed to care.
They are crispy and crunchy. You will not be fooled into thinking there is no difference between these and regular chips. But some days you just want to eat some damn chips. Get these.
The 12 oz bag from Costco is hefty. It says 12 servings, and while I haven’t actually counted how many servings I’ve gotten from the bag, it would be pretty close. I will edit the price into the review later.
There is also a cheese puff available in this line (blue bag), but I’ve found them only once. They were more tempting to overeat than the tortilla chips. Both varieties come in single serving bags and large bags.
IWEI. And do.

There are three that I like. SOLA, but the seeded one, Oroweat, also the seeded version. Can’t think of the third at the moment, but I’ll post something more, later.

I buy those Hilo Nacho chips too. They’re good.
Haven’t seen the Hippeas chickpea puffs in a while.

For years I questioned whether those mission low carb tortillas are actually low carb. I recently got a continuous glucose monitor and hate to report that they caused a big bump in my blood sugar. Same with Live Carb Smart bread. Just an FYI.

Not really surprising. Most low carb items that still use wheat flour play the "net carb" game, which is still going to affect your blood sugar. The Mission low carb tortillas are also still full of not-so-good ingredients.
Many Keto items that utilize alternative flours are better from a carb perspective.

Tried this recently and it was surprisingly good. My 7yo only eats Bunny, tried this not knowing anything other than it's bread, and she keeps trying to eat this instead of her Bunny Bread. We have the "sweet and buttery" one from Costco

I had this (top left one... the other three I've not had) from Costco a few months back, and it was not good. None of us liked it.
THIS; however, was awesome. My only complaint is that it is heavy on the salt. Too much so unfortunately, but it was great for that salty snack mix as long as you keep the portion size reasonable.
