Went to the soft opening last night and had a very pleasant experience.

First of all, I wasn’t even sure what the space was before I went. It is a huge building off of Burbank across from lakeside daiquiris. In the front is a restaurant and then in the back is a giant covered patio with two bars, area for live bands, area for a giant virtual golf screen and supposedly the largest tv in Louisiana (didn’t look that big to me but whatever). Then, next to that, are about 10 volleyball courts.
The space looks perfect for watching LSU games or just drinking and doing some people watching on the courts. The talent is top notch.

With all of that in mind I was just expecting bar food from the restaurant side, but it is actually a beautiful restaurant. Island vibe is their thing, and if you have ever been to Belize or similar, they really nailed the flavors.

We had a ceviche with plantain chips (great), brisket on brioche with coconut rice (pretty good), and then a jerk chicken with sweet potatoe dumplings (this was amazing. The chicken fell off of the bone and the sweet potatoe dumplings and sauce were so unique. Just the right hints of coconut in the sauce.) We also got a side of mustard greens that tasted like a true southern grammas greens.

All in all it was a pretty cool place and meal. We didn’t get to see the full menu but I think they officially open sometime next week. They had a big oyster shucking bar that faced both the patio area and restaurant and server said they will have a lot of oyster options too.

A buddy of mine is running the kitchen over there. He knows what he's doing. Looking forward to giving it a try soon.

A little off topic but is there anywhere in BR to get a good Jamaican or Trinidad type curry?

Anyone know when the restaurant opens to the general public? Are they open tonight?

Menu looks great. I’ll give it a month or two to get their feet then try it.

Throw in a Taco Tuesday and they can pull the Rum House crowd. Especially being so close to campus.

Menu looks legit

Wish this place would’ve been around a decade ago

I’d probably feel awkward going there now at my age

If they can execute that menu, they should be just fine

The way it’s setup, it should be able to cater to all age groups without anyone feeling out of place. If you just want the restaurant, just walk through the restaurant front doors and you feel like you are at a normal nice restaurant. If you still want the restaurant full menu and feel, but good people watching, there is a section in the huge covered outdoor area for that. If you mainly want drinks and people watching, there are tons of counter top tables closer to the main bar in the covered area with a limited taco and sandwiches menu that comes from a separate grill area. - I imagine that is where most of the LSU crowd will be -. If you want oysters and people watching, there is a separate bar for that too. Plus the volleyball players ranged from all ages too. There is also a crew of NFL players that work out in the mornings on the sand.

Just a really cool place all around.

My money is on Stevan Ridley being one of them. Dude loves to be around LSU.
