When will the price of live crawfish drop. With Lent and Easter behind us, will they go below $2 a pound in the next couple of weeks? Looking to do a couple sacks with friends the beginning of May, and do a sack just to peel and freeze. Trying to be cost effective. Thanks.

With Putin in the Ukraine, this cold rainy hot drouthy weather we're having, and the Will Wade situation with impending NCAA sanctions I wouldn't expect the prices to go down any time soon.

should be dropping already and by next week for sure

they will drop as soon as people slack off buying them so give it a week at least

They will drop but with the high price of gas and labor I’m not sure we see below $2 a pound anytime soon.

will be $1.50 for field run wholesale today

I'd expect that it will be $1 after Mother's Day if not earlier

What is field run wholesale?
I seriously doubt the average consumer will see anything less than $1.75/lb for live this year.

When will people understand that crawfish are worth what people will pay for them? You won’t see them under $2/lb this year or ever again.

This is my train of thought about how things will go. Like already mentioned, gas prices alone will probably keep them higher than in the past.

Price farmer gets straight out field for mixed size.

ETA: depending on where you are, you probably have two middle men that’s going to add a markup before retail on that

Using the big stores (Rouses and WD) as indicators they dropped $.70/lb post Easter, $3.49 to $2.79/lb. (NOLA area).
While that’s a 20% drop in price if memory serves me correctly we were paying $2.25 pre-Easter last year.
As others have pointed out $2/lb for live crawfish is probably unreal.

Pretty sure demand was way down last year due to Covid crap. That probably was most of the reason for lower prices

Still that's 3 vendors just in a small search radius willing to sell at a cost a few here said we will never see again

And one of them I buy from regularly and have always been satisfied with the size and quality.

Which one?
I know people that have used Scramuzza’s with mixed results at best and some that have looked for Crab Man Plus and couldn’t find it.
I’m not sure I want to head to Urban Fork due to location. West Bank may be worth a try.

We are seeing 50 cent drop from last week for most places. The Crawfish App call team vendors will be updated Thursday evening. I will try to follow up Friday morning when I rerun average prices.
