Corn tortillas are nasty (soft)

For some reason I just can't get into corn tortillas. I've tried them several times in different applications and I always find them dry and almost tasteless. They gum up and are just plain nasty.
I've never made my own but have tried several different brands. Are there any good corn tortillas out there or should I continue to stick to flour?

I hate them too, unless they're fried. I don't even like enchiladas because most use corn tortillas.
Not sure if there are ANY brands/types that I would actually like, because we were served freshly homemade ones when we were on our honeymoon in Mexico and I still hated them.

The vast majority of store bought tortillas, corn or flour, are fricking awful.
Make your own or find a Mexican bakery.

Depends on what you're eating.
Tacos, I prefer corn.
But for actual homemade meals like at mom's, it was always flour. Corn tortillas and carne guisada just doesn't sit well with me.

Depends on what you are using them for. I've been making New Mexico style Stacked enchiladas and they are great for that. For fish tacos, I prefer flour.

Yep

I agree with this for most any soft taco. A corn tortilla is not going to hold together as well as a "wrap". I just think that the flavor of good corn tortillas is so much better than flour.

Right
But if you must use the corn tortillas from the store, you need to find some way to make them moist. Either steam with a wet paper towel in the microwave or flip in a pan with some oil or something.
One does not simply serve a mission corn tortilla straight out of the package

OP, you suck at tacos. Corn FTMFW!

I thought this was common knowledge. When making my stacked enchiladas, I put the corn tortillas in the hot enchilada sauce for a minute to soften them up.

At Lupes in Longview they serve several corn steamed with a small bowl of melted butter to pour over, fold and eat. Holy shite is that good.
I like both flour and corn. Each has it's own application.
Take a pack of corn brush lightly with canola oil (and I mean lightly) cut into four triangles. Sea salt, black pepper dusted over, sheet pan, hot oven until crisp. Best chips you will ever make. Cheap too.

I've always browned em in a skillet and favor corn over flour

I prefer flour tortillas myself. Corn tortillas definitely pop out at you when you initially bite into them. Really the only problem I have with them is that they tend to give me heartburn.
