Cookbook from New Orleans Chef

Looking to send a cookbook to a good friend who moved away as a present. Anyone have a cookbook with New Orleans / South Louisiana regional recipes that they enjoy cooking from? Ideally a cook book that has recipes manageable for an average level home cook. Perhaps something from Link, Besh, Prudhomme, or another area chef?

its almost forgotten but frank davis' "seafood notebook" is an all time classic, and the recipes are easy and well written

Prudhomme's Louisiana Kitchen fits what you're looking for for sure. My mom has been using that thing my entire life.

I also like The Prudhomme Family Cookbook, Old-time Louisiana Recipes and Donald Link's Real Cajun is very good.

This is the GOAT. It’s what got me started cooking, and most of my go-to dishes (if not from my mom’s recipes) come from here.

Cooking up a storm
Features recipes gathered after Katrina so they would not be lost. Has recipes for bbq shrimp, Drago's oysters, etc.

Thanks all for the suggestions! I might buy 2 Prudhomme books and keep one for myself. I also have "Chasing the Gator" by Toups and love it but I'm not sure that my friend would get as much use out of it.

Doesn't get much more New Orleans than this. I like it very much.

My current favorite cookbook is Chasing the Gator by Isaac Toups of Toups Meatery.

Chasing the Gator is very good as is Justin Devillier’s new book “The New Orleans Kitchen”. Good technique and explanations.

Another vote for Real Cajun. It’s one of my favorite cookbooks ever.
