Will only be downtown and in French Quarter. Haven't been in five years. What's still good and what is now over-priced and overblown to stay away from? Thanks!!

Stay away from NOLA as a whole, but be sure to bring your papers (vaccine, life insurance and will) if you do decide to risk it.

NOLA is awesome. Go and have fun. Guarantee 99% of this board has never had an issue with crime in NO, yet they all act like anyone who goes gets shot. Don’t stay outside after 2:00 am.

I hate to be vague, but just about anything is still good. If you can tell the difference from a local place vs a tourist non local place, you’ll be fine. Nomenu.com is a great resource for a list of restaurants by neighborhood.

Is the game at the Dome? Yulman is uptown.

In fairness, it's fairly recent that shootings on Bourbon Street or I-10 are a regular occurrence.

No. It's at Yulman. Dumb. OU travels well. Would have brought 20k to 25k to the dome.

LOL! Used to live over in Lakeside area many years ago. Graduated LSU in '78. Moved to Texas in '97, and haven't been to NO but maybe a dozen times since.

I'm thinking getting out to Deanie's, Dragos, Pascals, but there's a ton of places I've never been to.

None of those places are particularly good, but if you like sort of crappy touristy fried stuff, then stick with these.

I suggest you try Peche.

If you go to Drago's, go for the chargrilled oysters and eat your meal elsewhere.

If you want bbq shrimp, skip Pascal's Manale and go to Mr. B's. IF you go to PM, get the oysters rockefeller. Last time I had the shrimp there, they were on a bowl of flavorless oil.

I've enjoyed Ye Olde College Inn on multiple occasions.

Telling us they type of food you're most interested in, price, dress etc... will likely produce more results.

Here's a list that might suit you that are better than Deanie's/Drago's:

Peche
Seaworthy
Cochon
Cochon Butcher
Bevi
Parkway
Clesi's
Commander's Palace
Herbsaint
GW Fins
Arnaud's
Compere Lapin
Seafood Sally's
The Columns
Blue Oak BBQ

Deanies is always good for a casual seafood place. Dragos has the best oysters, but that’s all that’s good in my opinion. Pascals is always a great option. Go somewhere you used to love and also go somewhere new.

Arnaud's

I like Arnaud's, but I'd go to Galatoire's over Arnaud's if hitting one of those old school New Orleans restaurants especially since Galatoire's is still taking reservations for downstairs.

Go to Mr. B’s for Gumbo and BBQ shrimp.
Stop at Kenner Seafood on the way into town for some good local fried seafood or boiled shrimp/crabs.

Will be a bunch of college age kids, 19-21, all from OK and DFW area, so they don't know what they want. I imagine their budgets aren't up to Commander's Palace.

The places you named will be great for the college kids. Give them a taste of NO.
