I've heard that the restaurant isn't doing well and will most likely be closing here pretty soon. Anyone heard of this?

Hasn't been open too long, I have yet to go but it can't be that bad...

I called this when it opened. Average AT BEST.

Very good restaurant, but management failed on the analysis of the market.

That place was really foodie, and that's just not something that's going to do incredibly well in Lafayette.

SO many people on message boards are posting this... One of their biggest problems was they hired D- staff. I'm talking bartenders and wait staff were scrubs. The food was consistent....consistently underwhelming. It's sad because with their location they had an outstanding chance to make a splash amongst the RR community and they managed to deter the target market in record time.

This is what I was thinking. You honestly couldn't ask for a better location. In RR (basically the center of Lafayette) and on the river? Seems like a recipe for success to me... I guess i'll have to go give it a shot before it closes to see what it's all about.

My prediction of only seeing it last a year would sadly come true.

Truth. I love it and hope it succeeds, FWIW. It's just not a Lafayette place.

Truth. I think the local market may actually be at a saturation point for foodie restaurants. Just not enough foodies in this area to support them all.

But the new Cheddars is set to open soon and will likely survive.

What are the other foodie restaurants in Lafayette?

It's sad if this is true. I've eaten there probably a dozen times and have always enjoyed my meals there. I thought the initial investment in that location was going to be a high bar to get over, but I thought they could do it. Really a shame if this is true.

That's a damn shame. If we had one in Baton Rouge, I'd be there at least twice a week, no matter how far it was.

Jolie
Pamplona
Charlie G's
Mazen
Cafe Vermilionville
Bella Figura
Just to name a few.
The main criteria being: has executive chef, regular menu changes, unique dishes/pairings, possibly participates in farm-to-table concept.

I haven't been able to check out cochon yet..looks good but urbanspoon is full of people complaining about it. Might need to check it out before it closes.

Or I could just go to Jolie's again and have a good meal guaranteed.
