Anyone been practicing clean eating? Been ~80% for about a year now and think my tastes have finally changed. It’s pretty tough to find much at the local groceries like rouses and such.

It’s pretty wild to see the amounts of unhealthy oils and ingredients in what is perceived to be healthy.

It’s fairly pricey to eat this way and just wondering if any of you baws took the plunge.

Ain’t making cassava flour gumbo just yet, but maybe in the near future. Lol

I recently read Darin oliens book super life

Pretty mind blowing all of the bull shite the media feeds us. If you’re into healthy eating/living, give him a follow. He is on the complete extreme spectrum of clean eating but definitely offers valuable info to change your lifestyle for the better.

I used to have an app. I think it was sponsored by Cigna or another health insurance company. You'd scan what you were about to eat and it would give alternative healthier, cleaner suggestions. In nearly every category, Trader Joe's version was the clear winner. Take that for what its worth

Almost all of our processed foods have unhealthy vegetable oils in them.

But be careful on this board. Some people love their vegetable oils and have angry reactions when you mention how bad they are.

I disagree that it has to be pricey to eat more healthy though, although it takes more time and discipline.

We’ve been doing it for a while now. Not extreme - we focus on finding the best option available (fewest ingredients, better oils, fewest added sugars). We’re pretty healthy overall though so can’t say it’s life changing or anything but I think with what we know about processed foods, more people should read labels.

It doesn't get any easier than shop the edges of the store. Meats veggies.

Gets old quick though

The biggest instance of this I've seen is peanut butter. I tried to find a peanut butter at Rouses that were just ground peanuts and couldn't outside of using the machine. Trader Joe's has like 5 different options for it, as does Whole Foods. It really does take effort to eat clean, which is a shame because it means that the vast majority of the population won't.

We eat very clean (I’d say 95% of the time) when cooking at home, which is a vast majority of the time. It’s really not that difficult, as others have said you shop the edges of the store and avoid processed foods.

This year we’re making a concerted effort to purchase meats and fish from local sources. It’s not any more expensive (and sometimes cheaper) than purchasing them from Whole Foods. We have a butcher that we’re getting our chicken, pork, and beef, and there’s a seafood consortium where we can get fish caught that day. It’s kind of cool - the packaging will even tell us the name of the boat that the fish came from.

Smucker's natural has two ingredients: roasted peanuts and salt. Crazy Richard's has one ingredient: roasted peanuts. There are no added oils or sugars. Those are my two favorite peanut butters.

If I can't eat an ingredient on its own I don't. (I.E. Flour)

I'm trying to eat an all natural diet but it's hard, especially living in South Louisiana.

If you don't mind me asking, what logical end do you take that line of thinking? Or are you saying you don't eat anything with flour in it, because you wouldn't eat flour just by itself?

Are you saying this for everything? No salt or pepper?

My feelings? Bro, you and your ilk are the ones that have angry reactions to someone saying something is not healthy. Imagine loving seed oils this much.

Enjoy being fat and unhealthy though. You're an adult, even though you act like a child.

You call people on a message board fat, because they're not scared of seed oils.

Yep and I'm a faster, so from 6-8pm is my eating window each day. Once a month I do a 72 hr. water fast as well. I eat chicken, turkey, fish, nuts, eggs, blueberries, and as many veggies that are beneficial as possible.

That with exercise and I don't take any med's for any conditions which is the complete opposite of my whole extended family.

Scared? Who's "scared" of them? I'm also not "scared" of cigarettes, but I'm not smoking a pack of them a day. Why? Because they're bad for you.

Again, why do you love your seed oils so much? You popped into a thread about healthy eating, just to mouth off to me like a little bitch. What's that about?

"Someone in a thread about healthy eating criticized my soybean oil. "

I’ve been considering trying out fasting this year for a month or two, but I’ll be honest I don’t know enough in terms of how to go about it and the overall benefits yet. I plan on doing some research in the next month or so.

The irony of a person who is completely melting down about "seed oils" on the internet calling someone else a little bitch is quite hilarious.
