Are the two original owners still involved? And who's making the meat since this Dan dude left? We need Magilda in here.
And this Hightower dude needs to make sure his hot dog shop doesn't leave it's Sysco list on the counter. I read it while waiting for my hot dog and the first item on the list was chili. That was a bit disappointing.

Was my first fear when hearing they took over.

The City Pork homemade potato chips & pickles are both delicious too.
I need to try the French Dip.
We order those expensive small plates of either the meats or cheeses. You can easily duplicate the cheese plate for a lot less $$$, but the meat plates you can't, and they're so good.

Hightower seems to be stretching himself thin. He owns Leroy's, Frankie Dawg, and City Pork now?

I don't think so. Think they are ordering most of meat right now. At least the more specialized stuff. Still smoking some.
And the Sysco...well...let's just say the amount of stuff on the menu ordered has gone up.
Eta: Sysco is a Hightower specialty.

There appears to be some incorrect info floating out there. I know that they had a user profile so I would just wait till the operator of that tells the story, if they choose to do so. One of the original owners is still definitely involved on a day to day basis- as he has been since they opened.

oh specific things i can tell are different upon dining there. The ham is different. I believe they now toss it on the grill where as the stuff before was smoked. They have the same meats and cheeses in the deli counter, and have added a few meats. Can't say whether they were Sysco or not for sure. It still tasted pretty damn good and the service was great so I really have no complaints.

Well, this is all disappointing. I was looking forward to trying this place and excited about the new addition to BR. Now, not so much.

I wasn't able to get over there before the apparent change, but I did really enjoy the lunch I had there yesterday. I had their version of the cuban sandwich and found it to be tasty and surprisingly large. One guy behind the counter was handing out samples of their corned beef (pretty good) and mentioned, specifically, that they made the corned beef and pastrami in house (I didn't inquire about any of the other items on the menu).
The same guy from behind the counter worked the room a good amount and checked in with most diners to make sure they were enjoying their meal. I was slightly apprehensive about going there after some of the recent chatter about the place, but I was pleasantly surprised with my visit. Will definitely go back to try something else.

Went there again last week and got the cubano because it is delicious. I am not sure what got into the cook or if he decided I needed to eat more but he LOADED my sandwich with meat, so much so I had the other half for dinner. The other occasions I was able to eat both halfs in one seating. I can safely say that sandwich was worth every bit of $12 with a drink.
