Well, yeah, the canned chili deal is even more unconscionable than the other thing.

I have not been to Frankie's or City Pork since the Hightower take over, not a conscious decision. Sounds like I'm not missing much though.

t's sad you feel the need to put a caveat like this, when all you're doing is bemoaning a place that opened several months ago as supposedly some sort of craft centric house cured meats purveyor (and whose website still clearly touts itself as such) that seems to have quickly denigrated into little more than a procured cold cut sandwich assembler, akin to an office building lunch stan

Could you break down that sentence? I can't hold my breath that long.

J/k. Couldn't resist. It's that kind of night.

Well I still can get an authentic Chicago Dog at Chicago Al's and I know she FedExes her buns and dogs in every week. But for the love of god can't someone just have a good New York street dog with an authentic, Greek inspired HOT DOG chili or even call it hot dog sauce?

Talked to the original owner several weeks after the opening. He sourced his 11 month cured ham from a big provider in Missouri. LOL at the dumbass talking about making "everything from scratch."

Next you'll tell me they make their own cheese and don't get it from NO. Amirite?

Inspired by old-world meat markets who emphasized a handcrafted approach, City Pork produces scratch-made goods in small batches ensuring proper care and attention to detail. All of our deli meats are either slow-roasted, braised or smoked imparting unique and bold flavors to our sandwiches.

They should just claim to cook everything to perfection, then they'd have hit every cliche in the book.

You mean the one that he owned?

You do realize that the guy who was doing their meats owned those farms and packaging plants in missouri?

Posted by ruzil I look forward to their new location. It's a 2 minute walk from my office.

I have to walk. WF doesn't pay me enough to afford a scooter, but I got good health insurance.

Quick hijack... How's the Italian beef sandwich there? Legit? Been craving an authentic one. Whenever I went they were closed.

It's as good Italian beef sandwich as you will get in BR.

I hope City Pork doesn't dumb down their quality too much. We've enjoyed the Cubano the few times I've been, and the gumbo is hit or miss. I tried the City Club sandwich once and it was too dry and not very good.

Let's see, with CP coming in that area and Panera almost open, you'll have those places along with Maxwell's Market, Latte e Miele & La Madeleine all within earshot of each other, and all competing for sandwich biz.

Latte e Miele is not an option for me, as their only soup option for the longest time was some kind of nasty arse spiced carrot soup.

Wal-Mart is the only thing that comes to mind in the area.

Stephen Hightower bought out Trey Williams from the business. The quick synopsis of the thread is that Trey was the food person in the business and since he has been gone, they have had to do some sourcing for food from sysco.

Hightower also owns Frankie's and Leroy's.

He bought the dog place a year or so ago and just last couple months bought City Pork or at least a large portion of it.

Won't take it over until mid June. I'm buying from Sysco until then.
