Is this place any good? I work close to the one in Elmwood area and am thinking of trying for lunch(can't eat Kim Ahn's everyday.) I know it is a chain but it seems to have a better than average chain reputation.

TIA

I personally like it better than Izzo's. Others disagree. The toppings are limited. For example, a place named after a pepper should have jalapenos or similar available as a topping.

I like it just fine.. I would rank the fast burrito places in nola

1. Felipe's
2. Izzo's
3. Chipotle

I have a pretty strong stomach, but Chipotle is one of the few places that has given me significant problems. Plus the food just isn't that good.

This is the correct answer. They don't offer many choices, but what the do is good quality IMO.

And 3 of their 4 salsas have chipotle out similar style peppers in them.

I think it blows. No toppings, few options, bland meat, and it gives you the shits

Felipe's is much better (albeit not near Elmwood)

They have locally grown ingredients, sour cream and corn around here, and they use he's fed beef and free range chicken.

I think most other places just have fluff.

To each his or her own.

they place sucks....what kind of Mexican place doesn't have queso or refried beans? their "brown" rice is white....and all their toppings except for the meat make the entire burrito and/or bowl cold...there is a reason I only ate their 2x in 15 years of growing up in Atlanta. chipotle suckkkks.

They do have queso. Its just not liquid processed goo. It is Cheese (queso in spanish).

They didn't make it out of Colorado until 1999 or out of the Midwest until 2000.

The whole concept was to be local and as close to free range/organic as possible. It wasn't started as another burrito joint it was started to give a healthier option to burrito lovers.
I researched the company thoroughly as I looked into getting a franchise when they first came to the area. Two things stopped me. Capitol out lay to buy into company owned stores and suitable location.
All the areas hear with the correct demographic (health conscious, upwardly mobile, and plenty of soccer moms) were either saturated with other options or had a Chipolte already in the works.
It's certainly not for everybody but there are a VERY large number of people who swear by it.
