I walk in...see the note taped on the glass in front of the tortilla heater...

I look over...count 6 employees huddled in the far corner all doing online orders...

Closed the walk in ordering buffet...you can not verbally tell them what you want..."digital only"

Saw 4 people who were sitting in the dining hall and waiting on their food...they walked in but did the app order.. probably have no idea how many orders are ahead of them.

What are your thoughts on this?

Management is making a choice to serve the digital world over human beings...

I walked out...had BBQ

Wife says I have to accept the changing world...

They did this all the time in Memphis. Sometimes the online orders were running 40 minutes behind. Chipotle is a mess, it’s just not a fun place to work and they are all short staffed.

They are all moving in this direction. They don't want to pay a cashier $20/hr to press buttons on a machine. They don't want to pay a manager to count out a drawer at a shift change or closing or opening. They don't want to pay someone to answer the phone and take orders.

At $10/hr, sure. At $20, times a million stores, it's a gamechanger. Automate it.

Could also potentially be a terminal issue. If credit cards or the like are down, the apps a solid backup

But as a company if you can serve all e-orders, all the easier. People in person cause messes, take longer to serve, etc… so it’s not a crazy model to lean into. Probably would want a kiosk during the transition if it’s the plan

The Chipotle that just opened in my town is a disaster. 1-2 hour waits for online orders, dirty as frick, rude employees, and small portions.

Well considering the number of mouth gaping retards that don’t know how to order at the counter at these types of places, I don’t blame them.

Chipotle is a mess,

My wife and I walked in the D'Iberville location a few weeks back. We were standing at the counter ready to order but the employees were malfunctioning as are most Mississippi employees. The girl cooking the chicken on the flat top had on socks with Croc slides. Floor area in kitchen area was gross. This is a fairly new location. We left.

That’s a good point, didn’t think about that.

Chipotle here in NW Arkansas was absolutely filthy, looked like no one had bothered to clean anything all day.

Like it or not, everything in retail is heading that way. Honestly, the less I have to deal with minimum wage workers, the happier I am.

We recently got a Chipotle in the shopping center down the street from my neighborhood and it's definitely less than impressive. The Subway of burritos is a perfect way to describe it.

Who wants to talk to a 22 year old snothead that has a $700 phone, but complains about not being able to afford their vape? I'd rather do digital all day. I said no beans, MF'er!

Raise the minimum wage, there are fewer minimum wage jobs available. You may have noticed the expansion of digital kiosks for ordering food, because there is no one at the counter to take orders. The expeditor for drive through has to come and treat you as a special case, because most fast food/quick service are not staffed for that, and rightly so.

I love the order ahead apps, and the kiosks. It reduces error, particularly for non native English speakers. You live in RTP, where I drove by billboards on the Interstate en Espanol for how to get a drivers license 15 years ago. You've been in a new world for a while, you just didn't know it.
