Ducks, deer, gumbo, jambalaya, pretty much the same stuff I eat now.
this. we all knew how to cook. we would clean out the freezers at home and bring to school and would cook virtually every other night.
all we bought was onions and rice.
good times.

I didn't eat food that I was going to regret. One memory that was rather nice in retrospect was the Checkers burger joint on Highland at State and getting a chicken sub, fairly tasty for @2.50ish.

Podnuh's in Mecca had a $1.99 two piece chicken plate with 2 sides that we used to hit up.

1 can tuna fish + 1 box mac-n-cheese = tuna casserole
Patio burritos, fried in the fry daddy, then covered with chili and nacho cheese
hamburger helper
zatarains red beans & rice
zatarains jambalaya with chicken and sausage (when I splurged)

I was a broke college kid, and I ate pretty bad and turned into quite the fatty. I was never that desperate or disgusting.

I would always draw the line at eating after strangers. Oh, I knew people who would do it. hell, I knew people who would box home table 36's half eaten sent back mid rare filet that was cooked medium.
My old roommate used to only eat after hot chicks and justified it by saying he would make out with them in a bar, so what's the difference.

I spent too many nights at the house. They had free drinks Tuesday-Saturday.

Oh yeah this too. Our kids menu items are pleenty enough so I can eat catfish or shrimp or a burger or whatever for $2 at work.
Plus things like vegetable of the day, jambalaya, red beans, smothered chicken, and twice baked potatoes get tossed so we get them for free.

Buy a crock pot, it will be the greatest purchase you ever made. I got a shite ton of recipes from the internet. I just throw the stuff in there, leave it all day, and when I come back from work/school its good to go. It makes good meals with alot of leftovers.

Apparently, college people don't do Fred's anymore. Which makes sense. Every time I've been, it's a lot of people who are quite obviously not students.
R2R........Fred's this fall!?
