As I have had to tell several people, wealthy parents do not equal wealthy children.

Not to mention that inlaws will live longer than you can ever imagine.

I never had Raman. The only time I've had that is when I use the noodles in slaw.

I made gumbo a lot and froze it. Same with spaghetti meat sauce and lasagna. Baked large roasts a lot and made burgers. I loved Der dogs and ate those on the fly and pizza. We ate lots of salad also.

fresh fruits and vegetables + a whole (non-frozen) chicken is the best way to eat as a college kid. filling, inexpensive and healthy.

Be 25 in a couple weeks. Yea, my freshman and sophmore years it was still tiger bar. I'd go there way before I'd go to Reggie's. Whenever it changed to the box (I think) it just sucked and I stopped going, but I was about to turn 21 so I just moved onto JLs.

I know at some point, most college students eat their fair share of Ramen.

Still in college, but hard to qualify myself as a student since I work WAY more than I go to school and I only do 2 classes at a time.

But even when I was a full-fledged student, I never ate crappy. I've tried Ramen exactly one time in my life, and it was in HS when I still lived with my parents.

I pay for almost all of my bills, but I've always worked and bought myself decent food. It's where all my spare money goes If I eat something cheap, it's because it's something I like and am craving..not because I'm trying to be cheap. When I'm trying to be cheap, I make something like roast or fajitas and eat on it for several meals.

It's now The House, and the college freshmen at work say that's the place to be.

Apparently, college people don't do Fred's anymore. Which makes sense. Every time I've been, it's a lot of people who are quite obviously not students.

I used to go to the Bombay Bicycle Club at happy hour. I would buy a beer and stuff myself with their food buffet. Can't remember exactly what it was - I think chicken wings, veggies and dip, and unidentifiable fried things.

But I could eat for the cost of a beer.

What are your not so fondest memories of eating in college?
Probably my campus cafeteria. We were really at the mercy of any crap they would serve us. We had a couple of small kitchenettes in our dorm, but you needed your own cookware, and that just wasn't practical with the limited dorm space we had so the cafeteria it was.

HOWEVER, on Friday afternoons, there was a bar within stumbling distance that featured a "beat the clock" drink special. Mixed drinks began at 30 cents at 1pm, then increased a nickel every hour. By the time the cafeteria would open around 5, we would be virtually shitfaced, and through the beauty of alcohol, the crap food that they served there was magically transformed into some of the best grub ever.
