It's horrible
Absent some taster gene I've never heard of, I can't imagine how this could be possible. Unless of course you hate all fish.

Serious question: Where you "forced" to eat it when you were a kid?

If you just don't like catfish that's fine. I was just wondering if it was because you were "forced" to eat it.

It took me a long time to appreciate brussel sprouts and cauliflower because I was forced to eat it when I was young.

no because no one in my immediate family fishes for catfish, and the thought of buying fish baffles me

but I've been "forced" to eat catfish at friends houses or my in-laws before

I see now - to be polite.

I really don't like curry but ate it the other night to be "polite."

probably an emotional/mental issue rather than actual taste.

Well I've eaten chitterlings twice and they aren't for me either so I guess all will say I'm an MD lover. I've also eaten opposum, black bear, coon, rattlesnake, nutria, horse , that ungodly stinky Asian fruit whose name escapes me and quite few other things. Some i liked (surprisingly the horse) some i hated (opossum) but i didn't turn my nose ip and I can say ive tried them. I would think this board who apparently is all Cajun by relation would be welcome to trying and tasting new dishes considering the fact that someone somewhere around here picked up a big out of the mud and decided it was a delicacy. I'd try your stew. I may not like it but the way everyone around here reacted to it reminded me of my 12 year old when trying to get her to eat broccoli. Try it. No I hate it. Have you ever tried it? No. I just hate it.

Dumbass gonna dumbass.

Interesting for sure. I make a crappie chowder using left over fried fish. I'm big on not wasting anything. If leftovers aren't eaten as they are, then I repurpose them into other dishes.

With that said, I wouldn't intentionally fry fish to make my chowder.

You talking about jackfruit? That shat is some rancid smelling crap. I was gagging before it even hit my mouth...and I can eat pretty much anything!

Yes. Durian. Ouch that was bad but I got it down. And my point is many people are quick to bash something based on a picture. Like grease on top of a dish. I've been cooking for 40 years and most things have grease and I skim off and move on. If I posted a picture of my gumbo someone would tell me it sucked but I can guarantee every swinging dick on this board would eat it and then go mash their bag. I don't put a lot of stock in some of these expert opinions.

Not sure, but the Tilapia haters have the same mental issue as the catfish ones from what I've found.

Looking over the recipe, I don't see how this dish wouldn't be good. I can understand some people having a "texture" problem with the fish, but that's about it.

Really the only thing that strikes me as odd is the compund butter with cilantro. I love cilantro, but I don't see it working in this dish. That being said, I'm sure it tasted just fine.

I looked at this recipe as more of a "leftover" meal. Throw everything in one pot and see what you get in the end.
