Don't do it! It will ruin your cast iron pan.

Fajita meet has been proven to cause cast iron rusting. I had a great 12 inch cast iron skillet from Lodge that was destroyed on Cinco De Mayo.

Yes, it's pretty easy. Put the heat on medium, let the pan heat up good and hot, sort of stir fry the meat, fajita meat is kinda thin usually.

It won't take long.

But yes, you can.

Why would anyone think this will ruin a pot?

My question is what the hell else would you use? Teflon?

Use it and eat the best fajitas you have ever had.

If you destroyed a cast iron pot then you need to stick to the microwave.

It won't destroy your cast iron. If your meat is marinated in citrus (lime) it might take a bit of the sheen off of the skillet but you can restore that easily. (Probably what the poster above had in mind).

And DON'T stir fry - at least not initially. Pat the steak dry, pan fry it on high heat (2-3 minutes per side, depending on thickness) then rest in foil. Throw your veggies in the hot pan. A few minutes before you think they're done kill the heat. Slice your meat (against grain if skirt or flank) and add to pan with resting juices. Stir all together. Residual heat will take a bit of pink out of the meat. Eat.

I generally cut the meat into about 6 inch pieces and put them in the cast iron 2-3 at a time, then slice them thin at the very end. Works pretty well, but it will create some
Smoke, so turn your fans on/smoke detectors off for the night.
