Most of the time, it looks like a building that hasn't had an open business in 5 years.

While in marksville you should've gone across the street from Paragon to Juneau's. Great stuff there! Next time.

Great trip. However, appropriate order at Harry's is 2 mustard, 2 mayo. Plus, while in Marksville you have to stop at Royal Cajun fried chicken for a 2 piece w red beans and rice, then get some boudin from Juneau's.
Otherwise, bravo, sir!

I moved away from Louisiana in the '90s. Been back several times for football games in Baton Rouge or to New Orleans.
This thread makes me want to take a similar road trip to the small town joints around the state. Hell, my sons are adults and they have only had Louisiana cooking that I did myself, or that we had in New Orleans, Baton Rouge, or out of state "cajun" restaurants.
Thanks for the inspiration. Gotta start planning a trip doing just what you did. Unfortunately, I'm not one of those folks that can eat whatever and stay thin. 400#s, here I come.
One question: Isn't “a weiner with a very thin coating of batter, deep-fried” the definition of a corn dog? Do we not like to call them that because of the moniker other fans have given us?

Never seen these words in this order. Freshly cracked pecans? How TF do you grill a pecan?

the worst part of this is that you missed C'est Bon in mermentau, that might have been the best stop
